Irfan emphasized that India has a balanced team and each department has the best players.
“This team is every selector’s dream, every coach’s dream and every captain’s dream. You want firepower at the top, you want an excellent bowler who can handle the pressure, you have excellent spinners. This is a dream time and a dream run for Indian cricket, and we just shouldn’t stop winning trophies,” Irfan said as quoted by RevSportz.
The former all-rounder also praised the team management and also praised the free atmosphere that the think tank has provided to the players.
“A lot of people criticize the management, but you have to praise them, when you see how well this young team is playing. Especially how they have created the whole atmosphere of freedom. This is our World Cup to lose, it feels a bit like that. If you look at the other teams, they have a lot of problems. I was just looking at the Australian team, and some of their key players are injured or are recovering,” he added.
India enter the big event after the huge success of late in T20Is. The Suryakumar Yadav-led unit has won series against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Several players from the 2024 winning squad will be part of the upcoming tournament.
Suryakumar & Co. has been drawn into Group A alongside Pakistan, the Netherlands, the US and Namibia. They will start their campaign on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
