Shortly after Apple had released the iPados 26 update in September, I installed it on the 11th Gen-Impad at the entry level, the most affordable tablet in the company’s line-up. I was surprised to see that it now offers an internship manager, a multi-tasking function that was once limited to the expensive iPads with an M-series processor of the desktop class. The iPad on the basic level, despite its older A16 processor for mobile class, received the full overhaul treatment of OS, to the macOS inspired menu bar. In addition to Apple Intelligence, the iPados 26 experience on the $ 349 tablet sees and feels creepy similar to the $ 1,299 iPad Pro.
The attention Apple has spent on the cheapest tablet is something that you will not find in the Android tablet segment. If I would recommend an Apple tablet to casual users, I would recommend the iPad at entry level, based on the great pound-for-pound value. The iPad (A16) is very right and can stream everything in its current form and gaming for educational needs. I often get it out for a spider like my stop-gap workhorse and rarely feel the need for more firepower to handle my web and app-based tasks.
Now, unless you want an even more appropriate tablet (read: iPad Mini), or something that is even larger (such as a 13-inch panel on the iPad Air or Pro), the baseline iPad offers a great price-quality ratio. And thanks to the Long Software update commitment from Apple, the iPad A16 U will be of great service in the coming years.
A solid choice across the board
The basic 11th Gen iPad is one of the rare few tablets in its price bracket that an All-Metal Build offers. The aluminum housing on this feels pretty premium and you would be difficult to find signs of typical budgetary segment cost savings. You will also get a fingerprint sensor embedded in the on / off button that performs reliably. In terms of display you will receive an 11-inch screen with a resolution of 2360 x 1640 and 500 nits peak clearance.
The panel is quite sharp and will not disappoint if you only need a slate to handle Netflix sessions, casual games, basic document work or college tasks. The screen has problems with sparkle because of the reflective top layer, although a cheap matt protector is easy to solve that problem and the screen protects against scratches and wear.
Apple’s A16 silicon is also fairly performance, and thanks to the boost in RAM and storage capacity it is an even better value than its predecessor. Apart from the usual browsing and streaming, it can easily deal with light processing workload in Photoshop Express and Filmora. It can even play smoothly with moderate graphic settings, with “Diablo Immortal” and “Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat” on their 60FPS presets without getting too hot. It also maintained an impressive stability of 87.7% in the demanding 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test.
A great all -rounder with only small mistakes
The battery of the iPad does not disappoint. It can easily take eight to nine hours to watch videos and still manages a respectable seven hours or so while you juggling between half a dozen apps with a keyboard attached. Regarding the software, iPados 26 is the most refined experience you get on a tablet and with a healthy margin. The level of hardware software optimization that plays here is simply unparalleled. If you want a smooth experience, the iPad will exceed your expectations.
But there are a few comments. Apple’s iPados, for example, cannot be brought aside apps unless you live in the EU. You must also pay the Apple tax for productivity accessories. The magical keyboard folio of the company is fantastic, but also outrageously expensive, and it is a similar situation with the Apple Pencil. As an alternative you can invest in cases and styluses that are offered by brands such as ESR. These are considerably more affordable and reasonably reliable, although they may not look as tight as Apple’s internal accessories.
Another small hiccup is the absence of apple -intelligence, especially because there is not enough memory and silicon Firepower. You can make up for that gap by installing AI tools from third parties such as Gemini and Chatgpt, which offer more than what Ipados Native delivers. Not many people care about ai-carbonades on the devices, and certainly not on a tablet of $ 349, but if you are one of the rare couple, your AI productivity will not be exactly Stonewalled. Despite these small problems, the 11th Gen iPad is the most rewarding tablet that Apple is currently offering.
