1988 – Orel Hershiser throws ten Shutout -innings against De Padres and expands his series of scoreless innings to 59, so that the record of Don Drysdale was set up in 1968.
1997 – Tony Gwynn connects the record of Honus Wagner by winning his eighth Batting title of the National League. Gwynn ends up .372 and is the first player to win four since Rogers Hornby won six directly from 1920 to 1925.
