Normally I would not argue for a recreational golfer or weekend hacker to throw a 64-degree wedge in the bag, but after I have thoroughly tested the club, I can confirm that this is exactly the type of player for which the Pingbunkr was designed.
I tried the Bunkr during practice Green, Driving Range and Golf Course to find out what this club can really do, and how it could help many golfers.
Out of the sand
Let’s start with what the Bunkr was made for: to help players get out of the sand.
With a super-wide sole with 14.5˚ bounce and 64˚ from HOK, the Bunkkr is designed so that you can make a normal chipping movement and the club will shoot a ball from the sand for you. It is as close to a cheat code for the bunkers as you can find.
With a normal sand or lob -wig, you have to change your swing and attitude in one way or another, whether it is the club face or your swing steep to shoot a ball out, but the Bunkr actually does it naturally.
If you take a “normal” bunker shot swing with the Bunkr, you can hit high. Soft flop photos from the sand that can even tear a few feet, depending on how hard you touch it.
For players who are struggling with that steep swing with an open club face and the sand consistently behind the ball, this should be the only wedge that you need more than 56˚. Is it a club that you only use from the sand? We’ll get there. But if the bunkers are your arch enemy, this club is their Kryptonite.
Fairway
So we know that the Bunkr can perform from the sand, but what about everywhere elsewhere? After all, if this club starts taking one of the coveted 14 places in your bag, we must investigate whether it can perform for photos outside the sand.
First I went to a driving range and started making five shots with a Ping S159 60-degree Lob-Wig for a comparison. With five swings on the full swingkit, I hit my stock 95-year shot and received an average carry of 93 yards, launch of 34˚ and ball rate of 78 MPH. (Not a good performance of mine like making Asdan is something I struggle with.) I ignore the spider numbers because we used reach balls, but it was an average of 7,000 rpm.
With 64˚ van Loft on the Bunkr, it was a challenge to make any form of liquid shots, but the results were still surprising.
As expected, the bullet speed was up to 67 km / h despite about the same club head speed (86 mph versus 85 MPH with the Bunkr). The launch went to 38˚, good for the four extra degrees from Loft.
Carry was about 72 meters, but interesting enough, the strike was consistent, just like the carrying number. Dispersia was not as tight as the 60˚ -Wig, as you can see below, but that can be chalked to having the right axis, lying corner and length in the S159 versus a stock bunkr.
Full swing
That consistency, despite a lighter and softer shaft than what I usually play, is thanks to the unique only design of the Bunkr. Contact was solid on almost every shot, which is an indicator for a good interaction between Grasmen.
To be honest, I finished cozy Bermuda grass, which makes a sole like the Bunkr more useful; A firmer turf may have caused problems.
Around the vegetables
The performance of the Bunkr in the greenside rough were the most surprising but also impressive.
If you have a deep rough lie on the short side of the pen, you don’t have to open the face of the Bunkr to pop the ball on the green. This can be a real asset for players who have difficulty getting enough length around the greens.
The club is not only easy to launch high, but the sole helps again by ensuring that you first touch the ball, and the wedge is not caught by the thick rough.
Hitting the Bunkr of a stricter lie is where more skill comes into play how high the front edge of the club is off the ground. If you catch it clean, you can definitely touch that biting hard in the green, but most amateurs are starting to struggle with skulls.
That said, if you live in the south, where you have more soft Bermuda or Zoysia grass mat, the ball connects higher on the face and so a wedge with extreme bounce could become much easier to play.
Bottom Line

Ping Bunkr Custom Wedge
The Bunkkr is designed to help golfers struggling out of bunkers, an easy exit and landing the ball close by. Because of its loft, wide sole and iconic eye2 style formation, you can use a normal technique with square faces to get up and down from the bunker. Easy escapes that depend on the trusting eye 2, extra loft and the wide sole of the Bunkr, the ball on the green has never been easier. Kind bouncing with 14.5 ° bouncing, the club easily moves through the sand and generates more bullet speed to launch the ball high and out of trouble. Lots of loft with 64 ° Loft, the Bunkkr helps the ball with ease to set up high and on the green, making you ready for more-makable puts.

The Ping Bunkr is a magical club, not only for players struggling out of the sand, but also for those who need help with flopschoten from the rough.
There will be places where you would not want to use it anywhere, but come from the bunkers-resistant tires in your but for courses with deep rough or softer grass harvests, the Bunkr can be a valuable and versatile option to replace a 60 degrees.
Although the club is not designed for full-swing recordings, the Superverfringing sole makes it possible to develop a consistent shot from the Fairway and a great option for those difficult 50-60 Yard pitches.
