New York is coming.
A new “tonic bar” managed by the luxury West Coast Grocer will be in 120 Leroy Street in the West Village. It is part of a partnership with Kith Ivy, a padel club of a private members launched by the Streetwear brand Kith.
But there is a catch.
The counter is not a complete supermarket and, even more importantly, will only be physically accessible to members of Kith Ivy, Erwhon told The real deal.
The club is planning to charge an initiation costs of $ 36,000 and $ 7,000 a year to annual contribution, according to reporter Emily Sundberg, who runs the substit feeding me.
For those of more modest means, however, the dreams of the village with a Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie do not have to be completely interrupted. Non-club members can buy smoothies and juices in “limited quantities” via postmates and Uber Eats, the grocer said.
Erewhon, who started as a macrobiotic store in Boston, has been teasing a location in New York for years.
The host institution has already received a controversy.
In March, at least 30 inhabitants of West Village gathered against the offer of the property on a beverage permit and said that the noise and traffic are increasing. First applications include a bar on the roof with an incidental DJ, which then shifted to an extension on the roof without music and not a drink permit, from March.
The Erewhon counter will be opposite the sauna, steam bath and cold dive, according to plans published by Kith Founder and CEO Ronnie Fieg. Fieg joins the Cayre family of Midtown Equities, as well as the old restaurant owners behind the cafémogador of the East Village in the project.
Materials posted by Fieg Advertising that the club is “a place where hard work and play harmoniously exist and where members are invited to embrace the entire spectrum of human experience.”
