Maybe a week on the road – and away from the Yankee Stadium – Anthony Volpe will get out of his funk.
As part of another Hitless Day for the Sagging Shortstop, Volpe was booed after he ran to end the Nine-run third inning of the Yankees in a 11-2 victory over the Nationals on Wednesday.
He has not had a hit – or even reached – in 25 straight plate performances.
“We are all people,” said Aaron judge about how full the situation deals with. “It’s about how you use it. Are you going to use it to crumble and in a negative way or do you just tell yourself that you should play better? You have to use it as a motivation.”
The last hard day on the record was the second in a row, because Volpe was kept out of the Line -up for two consecutive games on Sunday and Monday in an attempt to reset.
He responded with a shot of 106 MPH on the warning lane in the middle on Tuesday and a 103-Mph line-out to the third base in his first start on Wednesday.
However, three strikeouts have been mixed, as well as some solid plays in short.
His average is due to .206 and his OPS a season .662.
Aaron Boone said he believes that Volpe did not get so well in a strike position on his swing as he usually does, but again praised his defense in the midst of his attacking misery.
On Wednesday, after his line -out to end the first, Volpe outdoed a Soft Line Drive for the first in the Third, spread to end the inning, grounded to short to finish the fifth and re -switch it in the eighth after he was called by a 95 MPH zincklood rutckle.
Giancarlo Stanton, who knows that they are getting caught in malaise and hearing the crowd, said that it comes out ‘everything about a mentality’.
“The most frustrating part of when I have experienced difficult times is the mental part,” said Stanton. “You think about it when you wake up when you go to sleep. And that will also be harmful. You have to simplify everything.”
Volpe was part of a bottom of the Yankee -Line -Up who also struggled Austin Wells and newcomer Ryan McMahon.
Fortunately for the Yankees, the rest of the attack helped to make up for it.
“The biggest thing is not to make more of it than it is,” said Judge. “You still have a job on the field. The rest is really just noise and you can’t concentrate on the sound or you are consumed by it.”
And four games that play against last place White Sox in Chicago should get some of the spotlights from Volpe.
“He uses it as well as you can,” said Stanton. “He works as hard as everyone else. We all support him.”
