The V-8 Jeep Wrangler is back in 2026, and it’s much cheaper

Earlier this year, Jeep assured enthusiasts that the V-8-powered Wrangler would not die. CEO Bob Broderdorf said the 6.4-liter Hemi would have “a home” with the brand after 2025, and we now know what that looks like. Jeep is launching a limited-edition Wrangler Moab 392 for 2026, keeping the popular engine option alive for at least another year.

The 6.4-liter V-8 engine continues to produce the same 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque as before, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. “Our community made their voices heard and we listened,” Broderdorf said. “The 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 will continue to be a defining force within the Jeep lineup.”

The SUV comes with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a 4.56 axle ratio and a full-time 2.72:1 Selec-Track transfer case. It also has a dual-mode exhaust system and a cold air intake with water separator.

The 2026 Moab 392 features a body-color hardtop, rock rails, color-matched fender flares and black tow hooks. Inside, the Moab 392 features heated seats with black nappa leather, a ‘premium’ Alpine audio system and a 12.3-inch infotainment display.

Optional equipment includes a Sky One-Touch power top, an 8,000-pound WARN winch and all-weather floor mats. The version pictured here features the brand’s new deep purple Reign color, one of several new limited-edition exterior colors. Others include Goldilocks, Joose, Earl Gray and Tuscadero.

A new feature on every Wrangler, including the 392, is Jeep’s new “enhanced door hinge system.” It should speed up the door removal process.

The limited edition Wrangler starts at $81,990 (including the $1,995 destination charge). Believe it or not, it is $20,000 cheaper then the 2025 Wrangler 392, which started at $101,990. Order books for the 392 are now open and production is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

The Moab 329 is the first of twelve limited-edition Wranglers that Jeep is launching in celebration of the brand’s 85th anniversary. The next limited edition Wrangler will be released on December 12.
