If there is one AHL team that does most things well, that team would be De Hershey Bears. We can talk about the many Calder cups they have won in their history, but the bears always talk about helping players to rise to the NHL, while they feel that they are already in “the show” while playing in Pennsylvania. The Boston Bruins are affiliated with the bears most years, but their current ties with the Washington Capitals will hit twenty seasons this year. That is a very long time to be connected to today’s hockey world, and the bears will honor that tire with a sweater that checks all the boxes.
Normally we see Minor League teams who wear sweaters inspired by their NHL-Liedder companies in expressing them, but the bears may have brought that idea to a whole new level. If you remember, the capitals wore their “Screaming Eagle” jerseys from 1995 to 2007 before they breathe new life into them as inverted Retro Jerseys in both 2021 and 2022-23 before they introduced the black version as an alternative sweater last season. That inspired the bears to pay tribute in the same way!
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the “Screaming Bear” era of the Hershey -bear! To be honest, this is a great tribute from Jersey that recognizes both the NHL team and the humor of the screaming Eagle Jersey. Make no mistake that the screaming eagle was not everyone’s favorite look, so making the screaming Berentrui is pure genius!
When According to the release of the bears”” Unveiled a new specialty ‘Screaming Bear’ logo and sweater to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their connection with the Capitals in Washington. The new logo is a tribute to the classic of the capitals “Screaming Eagle” design, which was started by the NHL-Team in the 2005-06-season “. In short, the bears were completely about this!
De Beren announced that they will wear the sweater on promotion evenings at least four times this season. Those dates are:
- November 16: Kickoff Affiliation Celebration vs. Lehigh Valley
- December 12: Bobblehead Giveaway vs. Providence
- January 3: Psecu Knit Hat Giveaway vs. Rockford
- March 15: Rally Towel Giveaway vs. Belleville
The team will also have a post-game Jersey auction for this screaming Bear Things after the game of March 15, so save your screws if you want to possess one of these great sweaters. I imagine that they will not be cheap! If there is an online auction, I might just have to jump in because of how great these sweaters are!
I often talk about how Minor League Jerseys get a small wobble space to have some fun when it comes to professional hockey. This is that wiggle room when the Hershey Bears performed their game and devised a great sweater. For once we see a team that has a bit of fun, and I hope we see more teams that follow Hershey’s lead!
