The top 170 professionals are up for grabs at PGTI’s 72 The League auction

The top 170 members of the Professional Golf Tour of India will participate in a unique auction to be held in the Capital on Monday, February 16.

The PGTI’s 72 The League said on Friday that leading pros from eleven countries will go under the hammer on what promises to be a trend-setting day for the sport in India.

A total of 60 spots will be up for grabs in the competition as six franchises will pick 10 golfers each for their respective teams, for a total auction amount of Rs 6 crore (Rs 1 crore per team/franchise).

India’s first national professional golf competition kicks off on February 21. This was launched by the PGTI in collaboration with Game of Life Sports and the final is scheduled for March 6.

Top draws

At the auction, the 170 who submitted their names will be divided into three categories: platinum, gold and silver.

The top 30 of the PGTI’s Order of Merit 2025 falls into the Platinum category.

The Gold section consists of players from positions 31 to 60, while the rest are in the Silver category.

The first season of 72 The League will take place at three locations in Delhi NCR: the Classic Golf & Country Club, Jaypee Greens and Qutab Golf Course.

In its first edition, the league features six city franchises.
