The Tesla Cybertruck has become a lot cheaper, but that won’t last long

  • The Tesla Cybertruck now starts at $61,985
  • Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the new price will only last ten days.
  • Tesla also lowered the price of the Cyberbeast by $15,000.

Tesla recently introduced a new, cheaper Cybertruck variant. With a starting price of $61,985 (all prices include the $1,995 destination charge), this is the cheapest Cybertruck yet and features two electric motors with all-wheel drive. That said, the deal may not last.

According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, this ultra-affordable Cybertruck may not be available until the next few days. In a message at X (earlier Tweet), Musk said the $61,985 Cybertruck will be available for “only the next 10 days.” It is unclear what happens to the price afterwards.

According to Tesla’s website, the new dual-motor Cybertruck has a range of up to 525 kilometers and can reach 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.1 seconds. It also has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and a payload capacity of 2,006 pounds when equipped with the 18-inch wheels.

Options include full self-driving (supervised) for $99 per month, and the 20-inch Core wheels cost an additional $2,500. There’s even a Terrestrial Armor Package, which adds underbody protection and beefy rock sliders, for an extra $3,000.

The new variant is $20,000 cheaper than the Premium model, which also has dual motors and a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds. However, the mid-range pickup has higher towing and payload capacities: 11,000 lbs and 2,500 lbs, respectively.

Tesla also dropped the price of the Cyberbeast by $15,000 to $101,985. The Cyberbeast has three electric motors and a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds. The automaker increased the model’s price by $15,000 last August.

Taking Motor1s: The Tesla Cybertruck was not the hit the automaker expected: the truck came to market well above the promised $40,000 price tag. This new variant is the cheapest Cybertruck yet, but it may not be enough to boost sales of the struggling model, especially if the price only lasts for 10 days.
