Toronto Raptors General Manager Bobby Webster has emerged as the leader to replace Masai Ujiri as a team resident, according to League Insiders. Multiple sources indicated that Webster is the preferred internal candidate, because MLSE carries out its Executive search via CAA Executive Search.
League insiders described Webster’s candidacy with the expression “Bobby’s to Lose” during conversations in Las Vegas. Webster is said to be interested in the promotion and is interested in both MLSE and the NBA near the NBA. His potential increase explains why the search is also aimed at managers on a lower tier who would supplement the Leadership of Webster.
MLSE has performed background work on Chicago Bulls General Manager Marc Eversley, a resident of Brampton with earlier Raptors experience. Eversley served as an assistant -all -way director under Bryan Colangelo and played an important role in drawing up Demar Derozan. He currently serves as a board member at Canada Basketball and maintains relationships with Webster and the organization.
Indiana Pacers General Director Chad Buchanan is also taken into consideration by the Front Office of Raptors. Sources indicated that MLSE finds the Canadian ties of Eversley and NBA experience with several teams in particular attractive for the role.
Former Raptors -head coach Dwane Casey, now a director of Detroit Pistons, has met MLSE President Keith Pelley about the position. Pelley has also interviewed former Sacramento Kings General Manager Monte McNir, who was proclaimed until 2022-23 NBA director of the year before his resignation in April.
Kevin Pritchard perhaps represents the most intriguing external option for Toronto. The old president of Indiana Pacers led the franchise to the NBA Finals in June and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2024. A League Insider suggested that Pritchard is the preferred choice of MLSE, although lateral movements with contracted managers present additional complications compared to promotions.
