Of the top 10 putters on the PGA Tour, only one used a blade-style putter in 2025.
The trend from blade to mallet putters has only continued to develop in the past year. The DP World Tour equipment research group, SMS on Tour, recently posted The use of blades on the Euro Tour fell by a further four percent in 2025, to just 18.4 percent.
There is no evidence that it is higher on the PGA Tour.
In the top 10 of the PGA Tour’s Strokes Gained: Putting rankings for last season, only Harry Hall used a blade putter, playing an Odyssey O-Works 1W model. Many traditionalists wouldn’t even classify its broad blade as a real knife.
Towards the end of the year we witnessed Ben Griffin, the top blade putter for much of the season, switch to a hammer and win at the World Wide Technology Championship. The Spider putter he switched to was the winningest putter family of the season.

Forward Center of Gravity and Hosel Position By moving the center of gravity forward, we were able to position the Hosel spud on the topline, much closer to the face than typical “Zero Torque” putters, for a more natural, intuitive and comfortable setup position. Multi-Material Construction By strategically using aluminum, steel and over 140 grams of tungsten, we were able to design a “Zero Torque” putter with over 80% of its weight below the topline and taking into account our forward center of gravity and hosel position. New FRD Groove This new Forward Roll Design Groove is deeper and more aggressive. With a 19° slope, it works with the dual-ply design to improve forward roll up and down the face.
