Martin Biron: “What about Trevor Zegras? This is so interesting to me because he had 15 points two years ago. He only played 31 games that year and last season he had 32, so he’s almost halfway to where he was last year in points totals, and the fit in Philly seems great. He was at $5.75 million last year. Was this a three-year deal? Is it like he’s getting interest from the Flyers, say, let’s start talking, let’s look at the figures, or will that be postponed?

Dave Pagnotta: “I think it’s early in that regard, Marty. And obviously there’s a good relationship between Danny Briere and Pat Brisson, his agent, Zegras’ agent. I think there’s an understanding of, let’s see how things work out. His first time there, he’s had a great start, as you said, but let’s see how sustainable this is and go from there. I don’t think there’s a good relationship. concerns.
Yes, he’s an RFA in July. He has arbitration rights, but I don’t see that as a problem. I think there was an agreement internally within Philly that when they acquired him, they said, Look, if this guy leaves, we need to be in a position to make sure that we can, you know, he fits into our plan on the ice and in the books. And I think they have a pretty good handle on that.
So I don’t think there’s any concern on either side about having to try to rush anything. I think both sides want to see how a small portion of the season plays out, at least before they start serious contract talks on that front.”
