The future of Trae Young with the Atlanta Hawks is perhaps cloudy, according to Tim Macmahon of ESPN, and if that is the case, the Minnesota Timberwolves must be very interested. Adding him to the mix could solidify them for years as a title candidate, and he could be a perfect defense partner for Anthony Edwards.
“The long -term front views for Trae Young in Atlanta are currently at least cloudy,” Macmahon said to the Hope Collective Podcast. “This is a man who has been the face of the Atlanta Hawks for seven years. He has an average of 25 and 10. You know, led the competition in assists. His offensive production has been elite. But there are question marks whether this is going, you know, a long -term marriage.”
Young and Edwards were able to dominate on top of the West for years.
Why would Trae Young collaborate with Anthony Edwards?
The Timberwolves have achieved the Western Conference Finals with Mike Conley as their starting point guard. He is the perfect organizer for their attack, although Minnesota has led by his defense.
Young is one of the best attacking players in the NBA. Adding his game and three -point shooting to the mix would be perfect for the wolves, and it would fit beautifully next to Edwards.
The Hawks have found success with placing a defensive guard next to Young in Dyson Daniels, and Edwards is a great point-of-attack defender. Add that Rudy Gobert would protect the rim behind Young, and Minnesota may have one of the best defensive infrastructures in the competition to house Young in their line -up.
Young would help create space for Edwards and Vice Versa, the rest of the Timberwolves setup would cover all the time for the Superstar Point Guard at the defensive end.
The biggest question to ask is, what should the Timberwolves give up to land young in an exchange?
If the Hawks were to trade young, they would almost certainly ask for a hunger. And because the Timberwolves do not have many choices to act, Minnesota should give up serious talent.
Atlanta can even go so far that Jaden McDaniels has to be included in every deal, and at that moment the Timberwolves would have a very difficult decision to make.
But regardless of what the package would be, if Young ever became available, the wolves should be sure to take him to Minnesota to play next to Edwards.
