Another year with FREEDOMtravel has come to an end. We have traveled a lot this year, but we have not only traveled, we have also worked in many different ways. Now, when we look in the rearview mirror, we realize that a lot has happened over the course of the year…
A year in the rearview mirror
Not so long ago we told you about the trips of the year in 2025 – there were as many as 12 countries. But like I said, we’re also working pretty much all the time. It was a very fun and developing year, even if it was challenging at times.
We’d like to thank all the wonderful readers and friends, and all the wonderful partners! Today we offer a little summary of everything that happened, along with some reflections.
Highlights of the year
What were the highlights of FREEDOMtravel during the year? The pace was intense and both things happened…
Opening travel agency
We opened the travel agency at the end of March FREEDOM Xplane. There was a lot of work behind the opening, so it was a lot of fun. There will still be a lot of work to be done to develop further, but at least we are working now! It’s fine to book trips and there is telephone support!
Lectures
This year we gave lectures at two fairs. We talked about picturesque cities in Germany on Stockholm Motorhome 2025 and about camper travel in Europe, France, but also Corsica and Sardinia on Elmia Motorhome 2025.

Awards ceremony: Destination of the Year
At the Elmia fair we usually hand out prizes for Destination Sweden and Europe of the Year for camper travelers. This year the prizes went to Öland (voted by readers) and Colmar in France (selected by us).

Tourism Ambassadors for Uzbekistan
In August we were appointed official tourism ambassadors for Uzbekistan. Very honoring, but also nice because we think this is a great country to discover as tourists.

Trade fairs and events
Trade fairs and events are also important for us to follow the news and maintain contacts in the industry. We managed the Grand Travel Award 2025, the Tumbo Trade Show 2025 and the Travel News Market 2025 trade show. And lots of events focusing on everything from Estonia and Japan to Indian whiskey and Piedmont wines.

Collaborations
We had many collaborations during the year. For example, we collaborate with Your Brand Travel in the field of travel agency, with Pufz in the field of the online store, with Peter’s brother Micke in the field of advertising sales, with all kinds of companies that advertise (camper companies, shipping companies, trade fairs, etc.) and with PR companies and tourist agencies in connection with press trips (Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Slovakia, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, etc.).
Writers at freedomtravel.se
We also work with all writers who write beautiful reports for freedomtravel.se from time to time. We welcomed several new writers this year and now there are almost 30 external writers in total. Most of the reports during the year were written by Anna Nilsson Spets and Jonathan Gharbi de Maré.
Development of freedomtravel.se
We almost always have development projects running on FREEDOMtravel.se. We do some things ourselves, such as changing the names of recurring categories such as Travel News and the Vrijdagblog.
When we start rebuilding things (code), we hire a web developer, who is super talented and has been with us for a long time. Earlier this year he created the red menu and the Food and Drink subpage. We are currently working on a new exciting project together, but it is not ready yet…

FREEDOMtravel.se – most read, popular and trending
With the help of Google Analytics we can see what is read most on freedomtravel.se.
Most read articles
The most read articles on freedomtravel.se from 2025 onwards focus on camper life and camping or on travel destinations in Europe. These articles have received extra traffic because, for example, they have been distributed and shared on Facebook, or because they have been distributed in the Google Discovery feed. It can be said that these are topics that concerned readers in one way or another.
- The Swedes haven’t found it yet – this gem is a ferry ride away
- The cold came and everything in the camper froze to ice – so we finally solved it
- Weekend cities in Europe – 10 cities to visit this fall
- Equipment in the camper – so we repaired, furnished and renovated
- Trends in the camping world 2025 – directly from Elmia Husvagn Husbil

Most popular topics
Looking not at individual articles but at topics, we can say that the following destinations and topics are popular to read about. Please note: the overview below is based on a rough estimate based on Google Analytics, where we can see how often different reports have been read.
- Destinations in Sweden: Öland, Skåne, Uppland/Stockholm
- Destinations abroad: Germany, Italy, Greece
- Subject areas: Destinations, RV life/camping, food
- Ways to travel: Camper trips, weekend trips, air travel
- Content type: Destination guides, top lists, personal stories

Trends
What have readers been most curious about this year? Do we notice trends? It may not be easy to answer, but our experience based on social media responses, comments and emails is that there is a lot of interest throughout the year in:
- Close to destination – Many read about, search and ask about destinations in Sweden, as well as European destinations that are easy to reach.
- Hidden gems – When we write about unexpectedly interesting nuggets, which are relatively easy to reach, we often get positive responses.
- RV life/camping – Maybe not a “trend”, but an ongoing interest. We notice a continued strong interest in everything related to RV life, including equipment, technical solutions and more.
- Personal experiences – We notice that personal experiences and stories are valued more than ever, perhaps linked to the increased supply of AI-generated information.
- Different experiences – Slightly different experiences, both close and further away, also arouse interest.

Social media – the most popular
You can find FREEDOMtravel at Facebook, Instagram And YouTube. If we look at which content was the most popular last year, we can say that the following content is the most popular:
- Photos with both of us
- Photos where Peter is (photos where it’s just me, Helena, are so much worse, haha…)
- Photos showing the camper
- Exotic destinations (Uzbekistan, Southern Europe, Tunisia)

Behind the scenes at Freedomtravel
How was the year and the collaboration with FREEDOMtravel? It was a lot of fun, but also very intense. Many people see that we often go on exciting trips and that is certainly true, but it is rarely a holiday.
In addition to creating content for the site and for social media, we are also constantly busy with everything: travel agency, online store, collaborations, advertising, sponsored articles, preparation of lectures, site development and so on.
Perhaps one lesson is that we need to get better at prioritizing, but the fact is that it is not always that simple. We are working on it!
Looking ahead: what awaits us next year?
So what awaits us next year? The fact is that we have already half or half planned a large part of the trips for next year. There will be many exciting destinations, we can promise that. We will contact you early next year!
You can still expect interesting reading about different destinations and experiences, both near and far, and there will be some news on the site too. Keep following us and we will tell you more soon!

Thanks – and a few questions
Many thanks to those of you who check in here every now and then – it means a lot to us! If you have the time and inclination, you are also welcome to answer the following questions:
- How do you get here? (E.g. via newsletter, Facebook, Googling, own blog, etc.)
- What kind of post/report did you like most this year?
- What do you want to read more about next year?
