Manchester United played their worst season ever in the Premier League with a summer overhaul that takes place and Christian Eriksen thinks the team was lucky not to be relegated
Christian Eriksen believes that Manchester United had ‘happiness’ not to be banned this season. The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League when they recorded their worst performance ever in the division.
United were 17 points free from the bottom three, but there were hardly any above a large part of the season. A victory over Aston Villa on the last day of the season helped to open the gap, but the side of Ruben Amorim suffered 18 defeats over 2024/25 in the competition.
Eriksen scored in Old Trafford to sign his three -year period at United. The contract of the Danish midfielder will end in the coming weeks, together with that of Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof.
The 33-year-old was unable to successfully end his Stint after the club had missed the success of Europa League against Eriksen’s former team, Tottenham. The ex-Ajax-Aas is convinced that United will improve next season.
Eriksen believes that it has proved difficult to adapt from Erik ten Hag to Amorim, but that the United team should have done more based on their individual quality.

“I think there has unfortunately been many lows with the matches this season, and the final was clearly the missing piece. It’s football,” said Eriksen.
“For me now I think people are lucky that we are where we are, not banning the season we have had. It’s a bit lucky, you have to acknowledge. Next season it must be better, and I am sure it will be. I am looking forward to looking at it from the sides.
“I think you have seen progress, but of course the results have not really shown that. One hundred percent the results did not show that.
“I think the football we came out of (Erik) ten HAG will clearly take the time to adapt, and it is clearly far below the standard of the club and the players here.
“I think the players are individually whole, very good players, and they should never be where we are in the table. It is up to them to turn around, but yes, I am convinced that they will be a completely different team next season, I know for sure.”
Eriksen still has to decide his next step, but remains your period. The DANE has options after enjoying his stay in Old Trafford.
“I think it was the perfect end to a bad season,” he said. “I was happy that I would see that going and ended up like I started, with a smile on my face.
“I really enjoyed my time. It is a club that I have always looked for – the club size and everything around it. I loved the pressure, loved the playing style with the different managers and the people in the club.
“I mean, they really took good care of me and my family, so in that sense I have had three whole, very good years. It is clear that it has been many ups and downs in football, but I think I have generally had a special time.
“First of all there is a bit of a holiday and national team. Then we will see where next season will start, but at the moment there is nothing (set up). There are options.”
