For the longest time I don’t have the drop -down list of hockey books I have read and rated here on HBIC. That does not mean that it was not a goal, but it was good when there were a dozen books and slowly descended into chaos while I read more and more books. Everything that was read a few years ago disappeared on that list, because nobody scrolled to the bottom. In any case, I wanted a new option for searching and searching for books, and I spent my Labor Day coding that new wing of hockey blog in Canada!
Ok, it’s not that great, but the library of Teebz is now open! The library link can be found under “extras” at the top, and it will now be the home of all rated books about HBIC. I still have to go through a list that I have put together to ensure that they are all there, but I would say that a large number of books are shown on that page. The best part? If you click on every book, go directly to the review found here on HBIC! Not bad for a Labor Day of Coding, right?
I admit that the books do not go in any form of organized order, and that can be a future upgrade if I come up with it. The only organization I did was to place the covers that were the same on the same line as if they were shelves, and all the books that are intended for younger readers are at the bottom of the list. Furthermore, some of the more recent books that I have assessed are at the top because it is the books with which I tested different coding designs.
If you think you’ve seen this layout somewhere else, you might be a goodreads member. I took their code and changed a few things to let it fit into the current layout of the blog, but again, that can change. If you look closely, edges are cut off on some of the book covers, so that may also have to be adjusted at a certain moment. All in a day of work.
Click on the library link here or click on the library icon under the menu option “Extras” at the top. Anyway, you can now see titles and covers of each book and scroll through the large number of books that I have already added to the library. The drop -down list will disappear next weekend and from this point newly rated books will be added to the Library page. Yes, that means I will read more.
I have always wanted a library in my house to feel a chic, but this will probably be closest. However, I will be able to say that I have coded my own rudimentary library in one day. Goal reached!
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
