Volpe had bound the game 10-10 in the eighth with his seventh home run in his last 13 games.

Bird and Bednar, who took together late from Denver from Denver on Thursday evening and landed here in the early morning, combined to lose the five-run lead of the Yankees in the seventh inning. Bird entered the seventh for what looked like a soft landing site. But he gave up a few singles around a strikeout and then walked a batter to load the bases for Kyle Stowers, who awarded a Grand Slam who pulled the Marlins within 9-8.

Aaron Boone then went to the Bullpen for Bednar, who quickly got the second before he left a fastball in the middle to Javier Sanoja, who tore it for a solo shot that tied the game in nine in a stunning way.

Bednar followed by giving up a double to Jakob Marsee in his MLB debut, a single on a helicopter over the hill and then a single by Ramirez who placed the Marlins 10-9 ahead.

Carlos Rodón wore a no-hitter to the fifth inning, although he had already walked three batters at that time when he fell apart when his lack of order finally caught up with him. He could not get the frame, give up a two-run Homer and then walk a few to leave with two and two in a 6-2 match after throwing 107 throws.

Jonathan Loáisiga came in and hit a batter on his second field to load the bases for Pinch-Hitter Liam Hicks, who chose a two-run single in the Left Middenveld to pull the Marlins within 6-4.
