The Netherlands: The Weekend: Duck Trophy, Pop Cheese Sandwich and Green Jacket

From Maastricht to Hattem and at Ares to Leonidas, Hockey was back in full swing last weekend. We watch the socials of the fourth through the transition class. Some of the Instagram pearls of the standard teams.

Your team in this column next week? Send us A Dm.

We start our overview with the ladies of Cranendonck. The people from Brabant traveled to Zeeland, but unfortunately came back empty -handed. Cranendonck started the game moderately but recovered well on the way. An operated penalty ball in the second half brought hope, but the equalizer was not released (3-2). Despite the disappointing result, Cranendonck thanked the opponent Olympia for the sports competition. Goalkeeper Jade received the Eendrijt trophy thanks to her strong performance.

Fought hard. No points, but in the end the first goals for the Hoogeveen men. The team started badly against Salland. Hoogeveen had to warm up the first two quarters. From the third quarter of the team started playing better. Halfway through that quarter, Teun completed a nice pass from Julian. Teun was again successful in the fourth quarter. This time from the penalty spot. The result? 5-2 for Salland.

The run -up to the match against Lelystad was messy for the ladies of West Duiven. Some players had to blow the whistle in the morning and only came along just before the line-up. Although the games go better and better, some carelessness here and there made sure that the team was short of 0-2 in the first half. It was not over yet and with a full tank with energy, Westernezen started the third quarter. Lisa benefited from great team game and sent a rocket in the ropes. Westerduiven then created different opportunities, but the equalizer was not explained. Positive is that the team is clearly informed. The first points are getting closer and who knows, maybe already next week.

The collision between Basko and Concordia caused a spectacle from start to finish. Bram had eaten his sandwich with popping cheese, while he scored within minutes. Moments later, Vince struck a banana ball from a wrongly focused angle. Concordia did it a bit back, but then a masterful combination made the score at 3-1, all still in the first quarter. Concordia explained high pressure, but Basko answered with long balls. When the visitors also took a yellow card, Basko decided the game via a penalty corner: 4-1. Vince got the golden stick with two goals and an assist. Yes, you can speak of a class match.

Last weekend the ladies of Nova did not play their best game. So they really needed more punches against Berkel-Manschot. The team was ready to start after a good pre-conversation and a long, tough warming. Yet we had to get used to the high pace of Berkel-Ansschot those first few minutes. They were bright and deadly in the circle. The Berkel-Manschot deserved the management. Nova adapted and it paid off. Yfke scored the 1-1 via a rebound from a penalty corner. Still, Nova went to rest with a shortage of 2-1. In the second half there were still opportunities. However, the net was not found. Berkel-Manschot stepped up the pressure and ran to 1-4. Although the result suggests a bigger difference than the game, Nova showed more spirit and Vechtgeest. That gives confidence for the upcoming matches, because celebrating a victory together remains the best goal.

After a week of tinkering with the right formula, Culemborg started to flame. Mark tapped early in the 1-0 with a tip-in. After the break, Bemmel got better in the game and the equalizer fell after an unfortunate moment. The tension rose, but a penalty corner from Chris put Culemborg back in the lead: 2-1. Despite a strong last offensive from Bemmel, the team held. The emotion with the last whistle was great. And as the coach said afterwards: “If you work so hard, you take a big step forward with this game.” There was a personal prize for Finn. He was called husband of the competition.

Derby’s ladies took on co-leader Hudito. A fierce start produced an early angle that was cashed in by Wil. Derby then continued to play his own game. It did not result in field goals, but did produce a number of corners, one of which is exploited: 0-2. With that, Derby took nine points in three games. A dream start. Should the team already adjust its ambitions for the season? Moreover, Juliette made her debut in Ladies 1 and received compliments. For now in a foam and then ready for next week.

As soon as the first words have been read, you as a reader already feel the direction that the story goes. Not every version ends with a standing ovation, including Circushilversum. The start was promising and even a masterstroke was placed, but a slight miscalculation turned around. The game yielded excitement and spectacle, but not the grand finale that had been hoped. Zwolle ran away with a 4-2 victory. Yet Hilversum looks ahead. The next show will be bigger, crazier and more spectacular.

The continued his upward trend convincingly with a 4-0 win. The team created many opportunities and hardly made any mistakes, although there are always improvement areas to work on. Thank you for the minis and balmeis that the team enthusiastically supported.

The houses men experienced a beautiful Sunday with a big 7-1 win over black and white. Thur was the big man with two goals and was rightly chosen man of the competition. That is why he had to put on the matching green jacket for the first time.
