If you’re playing for money with your friends, you may have sweated over a putt worth $20, $50, or even $100 or more. When dollars are on the line, the intensity increases exponentially.
So imagine what it must be like for PGA Tour players, when a single putt can be worth it hundreds of thousands in dollars – as well as valuable FedEx Cup and World Ranking points.
Which players ultimately left some money on the table when their flatsticks let them down at the worst possible time in 2025? The PGA Tour, in partnership with Golfbet, has released some staggering figures on social media. Check out the details below.
Shane Lowry
A missed putt for solo second place on the final hole of the Truist Championship cost Lowry $400,000.
Akshay Bhatia
Bhatia’s missed putt for the solo third-place finish at the Players Championship cost him $400,000.
Ben Griffin
Griffin won three times in 2025, but came as close as possible to winning four titles. With one short putt left to force a playoff at the Procore Championship, Griffin missed, losing $426,000 in the process.
Russel Henley
At the Tour Championship, Henley was faced with a mid-range putt that, had it been made, would have put him in solo second. Instead, the miss cost him a whopping $647,000.
Patrick Cantlay
Also at the Tour Championship: Patrick Cantlay missed out on $647,500 when he missed a 10-foot solo.
Andreas Novak
This one stings. Andrew Novak memorably claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the Zurich Classic alongside Ben Griffin, but the week before that Novak had the opportunity to claim a solo victory at the RBC Heritage. Unfortunately, his winning putt didn’t hit the hole, and he lost the subsequent playoff to Justin Thomas. The financial magnitude of that missed putt? $1.44 million.
Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood won his first-ever PGA Tour event at the Tour Championship, but he came close to victory several times in the lead-up to that tournament, including an agonizing near miss at the Travelers Championship, where he had a short putt to get into a play-off – and missed. The result? Lost $1.84 million. But with total earnings of $18,496,238 in 2025, we’re assuming Tommy doesn’t lose any sleep.
