The Miami Agency is helping build a home in the Habitat for Humanity community of New Florida

The Agency’s Miami team headed to the nearby town of Homestead for a build day with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami. They came together to help build the very first house in the new neighborhood. Habitat Acres community.

Located just south of Miami, Habitat Acres will soon offer 150 affordable 3- and 4-bedroom townhomes with 0% interest mortgages and no down payments for qualifying families – a life-changing opportunity for many in the area.

Our boots-on-the-ground team, including the founder and CEO of The Agency Mauricio Umanski and director Santiago Aranahad the privilege of working on building #17, the first to be built in this new district. Volunteers spent the day cutting, measuring and pinning wooden slabs, assembling walls and door frames, and gaining a practical understanding of the precision and strength required to build something from the ground up.

The home that our agents and colleagues helped build will soon be owned by a local woman and her two adult children, one of whom, a recent graduate of Florida International University, was on site to help.

“Home really is so important. Helping to create it for someone else is one of the most meaningful things you can do,” he said Santiago. “I am so grateful that The Agency and Giveback Homes are supporting this new community here in Homestead; it will be a beautiful place for so many families.”

“Giving back is core to who The Agency is as a company,” he added Mauricio. “It’s humbling to see how much this new home means to families like Rhonda’s. It’s powerful to have a place you can call your own. And it can be life-changing.”
