The Melbourne home that’s redefining inner-city living

The Melbourne home that’s redefining inner-city living

More Victorians are choosing to rent long-term, and one build-to-rent provider is doing its best to make renting as easy and comfortable as possible.

Many renters in central Melbourne are choosing to rent long-term, and this is changing what they want, with modern new homes, lifestyle and value now a priority.

It is fueling the rise in build-to-rent projects, where people can buy new apartments with flexible leases and also access resort-style amenities.

In Melbourne, the Docklands area is fast becoming a tenant’s paradise, with its harbor access, extensive parks and public art trails.

But it’s a location that’s also on the rise with long-term tenants, as renowned build-to-rent developer Home launches its latest complex in the area.

With two beautiful architectural towers of 29 floors, Home Docklands is packed with extensive amenities and bright apartments.

It is the fourth project for the company and goes further than that, says Christian Grahame, head of Home.

“We think this will take Australian BTR and rental to the next level,” he explains.

“It includes all the features Home is known for: great apartments, world-class amenities, excellent service for residents and community, but it also adds more because we now understand what people want.”

Home Docklands offers apartments and facilities purpose-built for rental.

Inside the new wave of luxury rental properties in Melbourne

Designed by the contemporary architectural practice COXThese homes are pristine, bright and modern and available in studio, one, two and three bedroom options, both furnished and unfurnished.

Grahame describes the designs as beautiful and modern, more like a luxury hotel than a traditional apartment building.

“We have become known for our service and products, as well as our enormous lobbies. At Home Dockland it is like a five-star hotel with resident services on call at our reception,” he says.

“Additionally, these spaces are beautiful, curated with beautiful furnishings and excellent Australian artwork throughout.”

Grahame adds that the individual apartments are like a “peaceful oasis” and highlights that many apartments on the west side have harbor views.

From the moment residents step into the lobby, living in Home Dockland is like living in a luxury hotel.

Where flexibility and lifestyle value come together in rental

Amenities are crucial when it comes to inner-city living and at Home Docklands, wellness is in the spotlight.

There are first-class spa facilities and a commercial gym with extensive indoor and outdoor exercise areas.

“There are Pilates studios and yoga spaces that we are known for that hire trainers for classes as part of our community program,” adds Grahame.

Plus, the pet-friendly spaces make it a welcoming place for those with furry friends.

The mix appears to be popular not only among professionals. Grahame says the ‘build to rent’ lifestyle is increasingly catching the attention of families and retirees.

He points out that the growing number of schools in Docklands is a major attraction for families wanting to live close to the city, and Home is making room for this new cohort to meet demand.

“We are trying new features for the first time at Home Docklands,” he says.

“We now have a children’s playroom as we know this location will appeal to some families.”

The space also includes an adult games room known as the Beats Lounge, with pool tables and a collection of vinyl records.

Everyday convenience: how services change life at home

What will particularly appeal to tenants are the service extras with concierge, maintenance and management services all on offer.

People can get help organizing their deliveries and daily needs, or quickly book maintenance repairs with the on-site team.

There are also social opportunities.

“Our very extensive community programs are a key feature of all Home buildings,” says Grahame.

“There are social activities to get to know other residents within the building, whether it’s Pilates, pets, wellness, art or personal development,” he explains.

Social activities and community are built into the design and culture of Home Docklands.

Why experiential facilities distinguish Docklands

Grahame adds that the Docklands district is the real deciding factor.

Just minutes from the CBD, people can easily commute for work or play, and being a stone’s throw from Marvel Stadium means you have easy access to regular football matches and concerts.

It has excellent transport links with nearby trams and Southern Cross Station, and the ongoing regeneration of the area with new bars and restaurants makes it highly sought after.

Grahame adds that more is in the works.

“Home also includes approximately 3,000 square meters of retail space and services along the street frontages, designed to enhance the living experience,” he says.

Leases at Home Docklands start at $615 per week and include all amenities, with residents able to choose leases ranging from six months to six years.
