Nathan Street got a hot favorite out the door and there was little money for anything else.

With his typical high speed, Nathan Street looked for the early lead, but Elwaddell made him work before being beaten by Gary Hall Jr. was put forward.

Arma Believer worked hard early to eventually race outside the leader with Lincoln River in the one out and one back course. Meanwhile, on The Little Master, Deni Roberts was able to work on a one out, two back course after being restrained at the start.

THE LITTLE MASTER JAN 23 REPETITION

It was clear that the leaders had set too fast a pace, as they had run the first quarter in 27.3 seconds. Although Nathan Street was able to catch his breath, he couldn’t get free and when The Little Master made his run for home, it was all over in an instant.

Lincoln River, who looked equally dangerous straightening out, held on in second place, but the course of the race was that of Elwaddell in third. He had to do a lot of work early and was then put on the rails. On the home straight, driver Lauren Harper was looking for a flawless run and quickly gathered with the leaders.
Nathan Street weakened to finish sixth, but after the event was found to have an ailment he was halted pending a veterinary certificate.

Roberts commented on the fast early pace.

I was giggling afterwards. I was clearly pushed out as I came around the bend, which wasn’t ideal for him. I loved following Helmet as much as I could.

To his credit, he traveled there beautifully. He is currently in a different zone, as you can see. He wants to go around again. There was no need to chase them. They had done too much work in the beginning. We were able to judge at the very back and let him pedal home on the straight. I think Lincoln River still had a chance to get over him. But this horse is doing very well at the moment. He keeps the stable alive, he is the only one we are racing with at the moment. So good of him.

Trained by Greg and Skye Bond The Little Master belongs to Vincent who is now starting to make a name for himself as a father.

His mother Anna Faye, by Christian Cullen, was an experienced racing mare who won 12 races and achieved a time of 1.57.9. The Little Master is by far her best to race, although she also leaves behind winners Veeforvictory (Vincent) and Pinny Noir (Bettors Delight) who won at Gloucester Park.
