The deceased font immediately sets the grim, no-nonsense tone of the award-winning crime thriller by Martin Scorsese. Fat, Blocky and Unapological Hally, the typography reflects the themes of the film of loyalty, betrayal and survival in the hard streets of Boston. In contrast to many Hollywood dramas that lean on elegant serif fonts, the departed font has inspired inspiration from strong Sans-Serifs. The style is very close to Aachen Bold and Compacta Bold, a condensed and heavy font that became a favorite in film posters because of its ability to attract attention with minimal space. The long, narrow structure makes it powerful and efficient – just like the brutal pacing of the story.
