Kevin and Kaye Seymour’s farm has been a strong supporter of the APG sales racing series since its inception and is offering two royally bred colts at the APG Queensland Yearling Sale, held at Ipswich Racecourse on Sunday, February 8.
Both are close relatives of former Australian Pacing Gold champions.
Lot 2a colt from the double Derby winner and father with the highest percentage Ooooo pinkis the first foal out of the 1:54 Somebeachsomewhere mare Leander, whose mother, Lacey’s Legacy, is a half-sister of the APG 2YO Final winner Majestic Mach.
Majestic Mach, the 2YO and 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year, racked up 35 wins (nine at group level), including the Queensland Derby, QBred Triad, Seymour Nursery and a heat of the Inter Dominion, to win a hefty $796,397.
“He is a strongly built colt, is correct and has a great attitude,” said stud owner Dale Forbes.
The second half of the Egmont Park design is Lot 37a colt from the first crop of the American Breeders Crown and North America Cup winner and the American and Canadian 3YO Colt of the Year Pebble Beach.
The colt carries a 3×4 cross to the large Artsplace and is by 100 percent producer Favorite Miss, an Art Major mare from nowhere Faith Prevails, who left 11 individual winners including ‘black type’ performers Fame Assured, Frankie Rocks and Feel The Faith.
The foal’s first three mothers left 22 foals for 20 winners, 15 of them in 2:00 and six $100,000 earners – quite a remarkable breeding record.
“He is a nice big colt with a great attitude and comes from a great family,” Forbes said.
Both stallions go back to the taproot Lady Antrim, which was responsible for the APG champions Tims A Trooper (2022), Class To The Max (2022), Majestic Mach (2012) and Masked Crusader (1997).
