Pakistan Batter Sidra Amin has received an official warning and one Demerit point from the ICC for violating the code of conduct during the World Cup 2025 match of her team against India.
The incident took place in the 40th over from the Run -purification of Pakistan when Sidra, frustrated after her resignation, hit her bat on the field. She was found guilty of violating Article 2.2 of the ICC behavior code for players and player support staff, which deals with abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or luminaires and fittings.
Sidra, who scored the top for Pakistan with 81 runs of 106 balls, was accused by the referees on the Lauren Agenbag field and Nimali Perera, together with the third referee Kerrin Klaaste and fourth referee Kim Cotton. The sanction was confirmed by match referee Shandre Fritz.
The infringement was classified as a level 1 attack, the least serious under the ICC code, with penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50% of the game costs of the player and the addition of one or two demerit points.
Despite Sidra’s Fighting Innings, Pakistan from India lost with 88 points – their second consecutive defeat in the tournament after an opening loss to Bangladesh.
Pakistan will look to bounce back when they are confronted with Australia on 8 October in their next World Cup.
