The game should not have been as close if the 4-3 final score would indicate, but as the bullpen had been consistently done lately (especially after a starting pitcher who threw a jewel), it became more tense than they needed after the relievers took over.

Blake Snell started with six pointless innings and spread nine batters along the way. He only allowed one hit and ran four, but after the attack had taken over the game in the first half of the seventh inning – to set up four runs – Emmet Sheehan got the ball in the bottom of the frame.

Sheehan was solid for the seventh inning, but would allow a point in the eighth. Instead of going with Sheehan for a third inning – or even Roki Sasaki, who not only allowed one hit and no deserved runs in his two postsean relief performances, but saw warming up in the seventh inning – manager Dave Roberts went with Blake Tinnen.

Trains ended his regular season with a 9.64 ERA during his 9.1 innings in September and raised many questions that the late season went. The 37-year-old right-handed threw 1,1 innings during the Wild Card series, making only one hit and no earned runs possible at the time. Many, however, believed that Sasaki should have taken the ball again.

After the game, Roberts spoke to get training for the ninth instead of the young right -handed.

“I thought about it,” said Roberts about going to Sasaki. “He didn’t go at all two of the three at all, not at all. Sorting the run there, Blake threw some of the biggest outs, innings in the late season for us. And felt really confident there. And with (Alex) Vesia behind him, if necessary. So I didn’t just want, a bit, best with a few of our liver, I felt like we had.”

He added: “Fortunately, [Sasaki] Was ready when he was called. I liked it versus trea [Turner] And he got a big one for us. “

After the 12 throws of trains and two points earned, Alex Vesia would come in to protect two, but it was Sasaki from the Bullpen to close Game 2 of the NLDs against former Dodger Trea Turner.
