I could probably publish an entire article that dissects the complaints that the Canadian goalkeeper Olivier Roy posted on his social media About the Icehl’s HC Pustertal Wölfe, but that’s not why I’m here today. The Team responded to his allegations And the net not painted in a good light, but that is for those parties to train with each other. Instead of diving into that fight, I actually wanted to use today’s article to look at who played for this HC Pustertal team when they attract the talent they proclaim that they are. Although there are not many controversial players skating in the barn of the Italian team, it is safe to say that the claims of HC Pusters to get good players are true.
The team of this season will contain two former AHL players who are pretty good, and a goalkeeper who played in the AHL, KHL, and even received three games at the Tampa Bay Lightning. We start with the first player who will be known at Winnipeg Jets fans and Specific, Manitoba Moose fans as a winger and Power Forward JC Lipon signed with HC Pustertal for the 2025-26 season!
Participation in Lipon from the NHL -Rangen where he played with the Nashville Predators and Minnesota Wild for 110 games is defender Jonathan Blum. Blum was a solid defender with the Milwaukee Admirals and Iowa Wild even before he jumped to the KHL, the Swedish Elite League and the Del in recent years. Blum will join the wolves for this season, because HC Pustertal adds more Great League talent.
The goalkeeper to which I referred above is a man who is also known to Jets fans, mainly for his work with the St. John’s Icecaps before they became the moose. Network Eddie Pasquale is back for his second season in Pustertal Yellow, and he wants to improve an 8-14-1 record from last season. His 2.65 GAA EN .911 Save percentage seems to indicate that he has not received much scoring support, so that is perhaps the reason why both Lipon and Blum have been added this season.
In 2023-24 HC Pustertal former penguins, maple leaves and capitals forward Zach Sill and former Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Stanton. Sill had 16 points while Stanton had 12, so it is not as if one of them hit the competition with their score. They were part of a solid team game that used the wolves, but who led them to the IJshl semi -final where they were swept by Klagenfurt.
Regardless of that finish, it seems pretty clear that HC Pustertal has both the financial resources and the opportunity to attract some solid talent to play for their team. In addition to Roy’s complaints at the top of this article, there have been no other complaints from players that I can find who believe that HC Pustertal did them wrong. That does not mean that none of them had problems, but none of them went to social media to express their grievances if they had them.
Without digging further in that mess, HC Pustertal looks like they could have a very good club this season. They will have to score more, because they were ninth best out of thirteen teams last season, but they also need a better defense and goal congregation if they hope to play in the IceHL final this season. With Lipon such as Lipon, Blum, former Bridgeport Island residents Vooruit Cole Bardreau and 17-goal Vooruit Tommy Purdeller who are all in line for the wolves this season, they should make better than a ninth place in the rankings.
It won’t be an easy climb up the standings, though, as teams like ec red bull salzburg boasts former nhlers michael raffl and ryan murray, klagenfurt ac has former ahl 30-goal scorer matt fraser and bolzan hagan hagan grullids grullids grullids grullids and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan grullids, and former grandzan griffids, and former grandzan grullids griffids, and former grandzan griffids and grull. Wayne Komets Standout Network Samuel Harvey Stopping Pucks. Even the head coaches in the Icehl are impressive because Salzburg calls former Nhler David Oliver the shots, Bolzano has Glen Hanlon as their bench boss, and Pustertal will confidence on Jason Jaspers for a second season. The ICEHL is not short of talent!
Every now and then I will check in on the progress of HC Pusters this season, because I am curious to see how Lipon, Blum and Pasquale do in Italy. I do not expect that they turn the Icehl on its side with their score and goal convenation, but I hope we see HC Pustertal go on the rankings and make a run on the Icehl Championship.
Admittedly, it is not a vault full of gold brick with a Balinese dancer on them, but I suspect that HC Pustertal cannot care as long as they skate around the ice rink with their price after completing the Italian task.
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
