Joshua James managed to resume bowling after remedial work
Wed, August 13 ’25
Trinidad & Tobago Fast Bowler Joshua James has been officially cleared to resume bowling in all West -India International and regional competitions after the successful completion of a remedial program and a reassignment of his bowling action.
James was initially reported for a suspicious bowling campaign during the West India Breakout League earlier this year. Competition officials mentioned their concern during the first two games against the Barbados Pelicans (25 April) and the Guyana Rainforest Rangers (April 26), held on the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
In accordance with the protocols of CWI, video images and a written report were submitted to Loughborough University for independent analysis.
On April 28, the advisory report of the university’s independent assessor confirmed that the Bowling campaign of James was illegal, with deliveries that exceed the permitted limit for elbow extension under ICC regulations. As a result, he was suspended from Bowlen in all West Indies-Gesanctional competitions and other domestic competitions worldwide.
Since then, James has undertaken an intensive period of corrective activities under the supervision of the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board.
Updated images of his revised bowling campaign were submitted to Loughborough University on 8 August 2025. The latest opinion report confirmed that his action meets the regulations and he has been released to resume bowling with immediate effect.
CWI acknowledges Joshua James’ commitment during the recovery process and extends its appreciation to the coaching and supporting employees who helped on his return.
