Khamzat Chimaev put together one of the most one-sided efforts in the UFC title fighting history against Dricus du Persis, but a former UFC title finer found a certain aspect of the performance frustrating.
While as a guest on the Submission radio Platform then Hardy discussed his thoughts about the UFC 319 pay-per-view headliner who saw Chimaev the middleweight crown of DDP when they fought in Chicago.
While they brought the figures behind the dominant performance that ‘Borz’ had during the weekend, but also an aspect of Chimaev’s in-cage effort that he was not so enthusiastic about, said Hardy, said Hardy,
“I just want to quickly mention the statistics before you go, that’s what, 567 strikes of Khamzat, 37 of them Significant, 21 minutes and 40 seconds control time, 70% deletions. What are we looking here? This is like a child that the UFC game plays or something, right?”
“Like, this is as insane things. It was, I mean, it was an overwhelming dominance, but it was normal … It was frustrating that it was normal, it was not, there was not the intention to end the way there had been before.”
Khamzat Chimaev breaks record on UFC 319, earlier comments from record holder
Khamzat Chimaev broke a striking record against Dricus du Plessis and Chael Sonnen, who previously held the record, and offered his thoughts because he was assigned by the 31-year-old. Chimaev joined the South African warrior with more than five hundred strikes connected during the competition.
This overshadowed Sonne’s earlier record of more than three hundred strikes, which were kicked in his earlier bid in the middleweight against Anderson Silva years ago.
When the Multi-Division UFC title Challenger Chimaev spoke who broke his record during the weekend His personal YouTube channelExplained Sonnen [via MMA News]”
“537 strikes had landed by Chimaev. Let me put that in perspective because I had the record. I had the plate and I crushed the record to win it, and I hit 311. 311 was the record. I know for sure because I had 527 against 49 strikes.”
“So it was 10-on-1, Chimaev. If you see something that is incredibly dominant, and there were all kinds of jury members who surrendered 10-8 rounds tonight, I mean, this was one of the most crooked victories in history for a world championship.”
