Sloppy or not, Dricus du Plessis gets the job done.
‘DDP’ has made a career for itself by braving the opportunities and winning fights that had not won business on paper. That brought him to the top of the middleweight mountain, where he currently rules as the undisputed 185 pound champion of the UFC.
However, that could all change at UFC 319 in Chicago when ‘Still Knocks’ puts his gold on the line against unbeaten Chechen monster Khamzat Chimaev.
Since he made his UFC debut five years ago, ‘DDP’ has been accused of having an unorthodox, if not downright Goofy, style in the Octagon. Nevertheless, ‘Stillknocks’ has defeated every man who has placed the promotion for him, so that UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping suggests that the unique technique of Du Plessis is not nearly as ridiculous as fighting fans suggest.
“People say this guy has a kind of strange style,” said Bisping via His YouTube channel. “He is sloppy. He is unorthodox. He is unorthodox, but my God, he is effective. You have to stop looking through a negative lens.”
Will the unorthodox approach to Du Plessis be sufficient to overcome Chimaev’s total dominance in the Achthoek?
In his last four trips, Du Plessis has achieved great victories over former world champions such as Robert Whittaker, Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya.
But with all due respect for those hunters, ‘DDP’ has never confronted anyone as dangerously as Chimaev.
‘Borz’ is a perfect 14-0 in his mixed martial arts career and has drawn up a reputation for ragdolling opponents with reckless surrender. His impressive victories over Kevin Holland, Kamaru Usman and the aforementioned Robert Whittaker got him the opportunity to bring gold and glory to his native Chechenia.

Will the ‘weird style’ of Du Plessis turn out to be too much for even Chimaev to overcome, or will ‘Borz’ resign his will again and leave ‘The Windy City’ with the middleweight belt? We will discover it in a few short hours.
