The Friday blog: Traveling abroad, computer problems and fashion events

Writer: Helena Bergström

This past week was good…but maybe a little messy!? We recently came home from Poland and an intense fashion event awaited us! We also had a lot of computer problems…

Traveling abroad

The first foreign trip of the year was to the fantastically beautiful Sopot in Poland. We have visited this gem before, but coming here in winter was new. Nice to discover that everything (except the ice cream kiosks) is open in winter! Read about the winter weekend in Sopot and about the Grand Hotel in Sopot!

Computer problems

When I (Helena) woke up one morning, my computer had “died”, or rather, locked itself. It required a so-called “Bitlocker recovery” to open and upon investigation we discovered that the requested key can be found in someone’s Microsoft account. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, despite exploring all the different possible Microsoft accounts…

What to do? We went to Elgiganten, where we bought the computer, but all they could do was empty the computer and restart it. In other words, they were able to give my computer back, but I lost all the documents, pictures and programs.

Yes, I had a cloud of sorts, so I ended up getting most of what I had saved on the computer back. But it was a lot of hassle (many hours!), and the fact that messages came here every day is entirely down to the fact that I had an old spare computer at home that I could pick up…

Fashion event in Stockholm

Have you perhaps read about our visit to the Golden Age Gala 2026? Really nice! The fact that we ended up here is because Peter loves Taracci’s design, while at the same time we enjoyed writing a report about the event.

Croatian event

Shortly afterwards it was time for an event focused on beautiful Croatia. A presenter talked about various nice Hilton hotels in Croatia. Inspiring!

Another presenter talked about cruises with Katarina Line. We can do these is called recommend! The cruises (available in different price ranges depending on the type of ship) take you around the beautiful Croatian archipelago.

This is simply a fantastic way to experience Croatian island life, for those who also enjoy good food, good wines, interesting sights and a nice atmosphere! Do you have questions about these cruises? Please feel free to contact us [email protected]!

This week: Thankful for…

This week, first of all, I’m grateful that I got my computer back after the “Bitlocker crash”. I’m honestly finding it a little hard to understand why it happened (and why my key wasn’t in the Microsoft account), but after all that back and forth I’m just grateful that everything is working… I’m also grateful that all parts of the Nordic countries are still part of the Nordic countries!

What are you grateful for this week?

Next week

We’re back in Stockholm now and you can expect more posts about Sopot, which we recently visited. In addition, there will be reports from guest writers about both Greenland and Mali (West Africa) – exciting, right? We wish you a very happy Friday and weekend!
