ELLE Trend: Three major trend pieces for spring 2026
Spring is the season of new beginnings – and with it the desire to renew the wardrobe. After months of layers upon layers and dark shades, we at the editors long for lighter shades, lighter materials and silhouettes that feel both fresh and natural.
Before each new season, we select the pieces that really set the tone for how we want to dress – key pieces that are current, but also long-lasting. It can be anything: from the perfect blouse to a fitted jacket or a pair of stylish sneakers to brave the spring heat. Now we want to share our personal favorites: the clothes that we at ELLE editors are focusing on this spring and that will play the leading role in our spring wardrobe in 2026.

The editors: The most important piece of clothing we bet on in spring 2026

– I dream of spring when you can walk around in a thin blouse and jeans without it freezing, so I have already started replenishing my blouse and shirt wardrobe. H&M has many nice items in different colors, models and patterns. I love this striped ruffled shirt and blouse mix, which looks just as good at work as it does at dinner.

– I’m counting down the days until it’s time to replace the heavy winter coat with a lighter spring coat. And this spring I want to wear classics like the bright trench coat and the sporty blouson jacket. I have my eye on this jacket from Cos with a rounded, oversized silhouette and defined elastic at the bottom. I imagine spring in this jacket + light jeans, a white sweater with three-quarter sleeves, cute ballerinas and a bag that snaps – simple but works every day of the week!

– I’m dying to put the boots on the shelf and put on a pair of sneakers instead. Normally I always buy black and white Adidas Samba OG, which are both stylish and comfortable. But this year I’m going to try something new and I spied Adidas Handball Spezial sneakers in beige and brown. I combine that with light jeans and a beige cardigan!

– Right now my eyes are drawn to the blue color palette! The trendy color has really piqued my interest and for this season I want to ditch my black basics for a bit and go all out with navy blue instead. Think jeans, a white T-shirt and a blue scarf – perhaps paired with a pair of dark blue ballet flats – and you have the look I’m looking for. And of course a navy blue blazer for every day! – This spring I want to invest in a bright color palette. As a shopping editor, I read a lot of fashion news every day, and it’s rare that I get stuck right away, but this blouse did just that. For me it is the perfect mix between blazer and blouse in a soft creamy white shade: chic enough for meetings, but casual enough for every day. The structured feel combined with the supple fabric makes it both thoughtful and simple. It’s the kind of piece that instantly transforms the wardrobe – just as stylish with trousers as with jeans.
