Historically, the St. Louis Cardinals have been an iconic major League Baseball franchise.
From 1882-2025, St. Louis was home to a big league franchise.
Many of those teams were very good.
The team was known as the St. Louis Browns, until the team name changed to the cardinals in 1900.
The Cardinals won ten World Series championships, with the most recent 2011, when they defeated the Texas Rangers in seven games.
Hall of Fame -manager Tony La Russa led his cardinals to World Series -victories in both 2006 and 2011.
Busch Stadium I was the home of the St. Louis franchise until it was closed in 1966. Since then Busch Memorial Stage II has been in use.
Since the year 2000, Busch Memorial Stadium II has presented 20 times more than three million fans.
That incredible attendance record was realized because of very competitive cardinals teams.
It seemed that in recent memory national competition teams had to be wary of the cardinals.
In some years, the cardinals may not have preferred to win the National League Central Division. Analysts may not have felt that the teams were competitive.
Often those analysts were incorrect.
The cardinals would be deregistered for many time at the All Star Break, and then, just like timepiece, they would come back.
Since 2000, the cardinals have been in the play -offs 16 times.
That success ended when St. Louis lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 in the National League Wild Card Series 2022.
Fans have responded by staying away from Busch Memorial Stadium. In large numbers.
This season, the Cardinals saw the biggest fall from the year to year in Major League Baseball presence.
The team attracted 2,250.007 fans this year.
That was a decrease from 628.108 fans from the 2024 -foremacy of 2,878.115.
Of course, the decrease in the presence has far -reaching financial consequences.
Fewer fans mean a huge decrease in the income of ticket sales. A decrease in team clothing and novelties, a decrease in selling concessions and a decrease in parking income.
Here are the St. Louis Cardinals presence figures for the last three seasons:
3,241,091 fans were present in 2023. The record of the team was 71-91 or 5th in the division
2,878,115 fans were present in 2024. The record of the team was 83-79, or 2nd in the division
2,250.007 fans were present in 20205. The record of the team was 79-84, or 4th in the division
This season, the average competition in Busch Memorial Stadium was 27,581 fans.
In 2024, the average competition end in Busch Memorial Stadium was 3,241.091 fans.
The decrease in presence is dramatic.
It can be argued that the cardinals had no star player in their selection.

Thomas Saggese -SS
Pedro Pages-C
Jordan Walker-RF
Victor Scott II-CF
There is no Aaron judge, Shohei Ohtani, or high -profile player in the line -up to help fans on the seats. To be honest, the line -up of cardinals is quite meh!
Often a starting pitcher can attract fans on his day on the hill.

There is no Tarik Skubal. No Max Fried, and nobody in the rotation that fans offer fans do not want to miss fans.
What is the following?
The Payroll Cardinals was mentioned this year at $ 144 million by Fangraphs.com.
The paylist of Cardinals 2024 was $ 183 million.
For this writer, the cardinals need an infusion of veterers with a higher profile to offer a larger production and run production.
For this observer, the cardinals must renew their pitching staff.
The cardinals will have to improve their first -year player contracts.
The cardinals must spend money.

The cardinals have an old MLB baseball operations director, Chaim Bloom, 42, introduced as a replacement for John Mozeliak as the person responsible for the players on the field.
It seems that Bloom is concentrating on upgrading its organizational selection with various transactions outside the season.
Bloom did not use the word ‘rebuilt’ in discussing his plans for the cardinals.
But … he clearly looks like a man on a mission to confirm a sleeping franchise.
This is what Bloom told MLB.com: “People will call different things (the coming process), and that is OK, but for me it is only to stay focused on the goal of trying to make movement that pushes us to it.”
For this old explorer, the mushroom years were a wasted opportunity for the iconic Cardinals franchise.
The cardinals have not caused fear in an opponent for a few years.
The challenge is now clear from Chaim Bloom.
