A month in political donations is not the final report whose real estate sector supports the mayor race.
However, it is a pulse control. In the run -up to the primary, the large industrial players donated overwhelming to the former government Andrew Cuomo. That changed after he lost, and then Mayor Eric Adams saw a sudden increase in donations in the industry. He brought in more than $ 489,000 from real estate donors after the primary, until 11 July.
Now we have received the last donations, between July 12 to August 18:
ZOHRAN MAMDANI
Donations of real estate: $ 19,720
Total contributions reported this period: $ 1 million
Eric Adams
Donations of real estate: $ 60,545
Total contributions reported this period: $ 425,181
Andrew Cuomo
Donations of real estate: $ 53,720
Total contributions reported this period: $ 472,537 (plus a transfer of $ 68,225 from a state fund)
Curtis Sliwa
Donations of real estate: $ 9,939
Total contributions reported this period: $ 406,392
Jim Walden
Donations of real estate: $ 250
Total contributions reported this period: $ 8,222
The Bottom Line? The industry is still generally supportive Adams and Cuomo. Donations to the mayor have been delayed since the last submission period, but that seemed to be powered by an immediate (panic) response to the primary loss of Cuomo.
The next deadline of the submission is October 3, at which point we should have a better idea or decide to withdraw the expenses for the general elections. Of course, if someone fails, everything can change.
What we think about: Will someone fall out of the mayor’s race before the general elections? Have you heard something about the ballot papers of land use lately? Send a comment to kathryn@thereealdeal.com.
Something we have learned: The term synanthope (not -homestic beings who live in the vicinity of people, such as rats, pigeons or squirrels) comes from the Greek “syn”, which means “together with” and Anthropos, that “man” is, according to the book “The 99% invisible city: a field guide with the hidden world of daily design.”
Elsewhere in New York …
-The former chief advisor of Mayor Eric Adams, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, was charged last week for accusation that she accepted bribes, including a short cameo in the TV program ‘Godfather of Harlem’, in exchange for interfering with a controversial traffic recovery. But she is not the only member of the mayor’s inner circle to get a performance with the show. Gothamist reported that the son of Adams, Jordan Coleman, acted as a personal assistant of actor Forest Whitaker during the second season of the show, in what was described by two production staff as a ‘political rent’.
– Gothamist profiled Drew Warshaw, who pops up as a challenger for the state of Comptroller Tom Dinapoli. Warshaw’s platform focused on the affordability crisis. As part of his campaign, he wants to invest $ 10 billion from the State Pension Fund in affordable housing projects.
– The Zohran Mamdani campaign gave a treasure hunt at the weekend, Newsweek reported. The activity arrived at the campaign blade of the mayor candidate of fast, free buses, because participants used public transport to cross the city to different stops, a number of them transit theme. – Quinn Waller
