Team India Wicketkeeper-Batter Sanju Samson is probably not a member of the five-time Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Chennai franchise has shown cooled interest, while Rajasthan Royals (RR) is completely not impressed by the TradeBuzz, making the switch out of season at this stage unlikely.
Sanju Samson asked the royals to release him after IPL 2025. He was saved for RS 18 Crore prior to last year’s Mega auction. Samson only played nine of the 14 games because of a side stem, with Riyan Parag who stepped in as a stand-in captain. The royals can release or exchange him for another team.

Sanju Samson started his IPL trip with Rajasthan Royals in 2013 and played three seasons before moving to the Delhi franchise during RR’s two-year suspension. He returned to the Royals in 2018 and was held for the mega protections of 2022 and 2024.

Prior to the 2021 season, RR Samson appointed as captain. Under his leadership, the team finished second in 2022. However, the Royals struggled in recent seasons and missed the play-offs in two of the last three IPL editions.
Samson’s IPL 2025 campaign was impeded by injuries. He scored 285 points with a success rate of 140.39. The Slagman started the season as an impact player and a belly injury against Delhi Capitals forced him to miss five games. The team in particular finished ninth in the point table.
CSK’s interest in Sanju Samson has cooled for IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings has reportedly considered signing Samson, especially with uncertainty about the future of Mrs. Dhoni. However, the franchise has cooled its interest in the idea.
A CSK officer said Revportz that there are no continuous discussions with the Rajasthan Royals with regard to Samson and called the commercial interview “all rumors”. The official stated that nothing is currently planned.
“No, no, we have no discussion with Rajasthan Royals about him at the moment” told Rev -Sportz. “They are all rumors. We can’t tell about the future, but nothing from now on.”

Sanju Samson is recorded as the primary Wicketkeeper-Batter of India for the Asia Cup 2025, but his place in the starting XI is uncertain. Shubman Gill, who returned to the T20i setup as a vice-captain, will probably be opened next to Abhishek Sharma, which could force Samson to miss the playing XI.
The team is expected to have Tilak Varma at number three and Captain Suryakumar Yadav on four. Samson has struggled at number four or lower in T20Is, which increased the possibility that Jitesh Sharma takes the role of the keeper-battere in the order.
The Men in Blue starts on 10 September with their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the United Arab Emirates (VAE) in Dubai. They will be confronted opposite Pakistan and Oman in their remaining group phase competitions.
