Leah and Ash from The Block 2023 have sold their beautiful Queenslander

The Block stars Leah and Ash Milton have made a $3 million comeback, two years after their controversial appearance on the hit TV show ended in heartbreak when their home was put up for auction.

In contrast, the off-screen couple’s dream home secured a spectacular $3.001 million sale under the hammer at a suitably dramatic auction on Brisbane’s Bay.

The Miltons paid $750,000 for the Wynnum estate in 2020, raising and rebuilding the Grade II listed 1930s Queenslander in five years.

Ms Milton said the auction campaign was “nerve-wracking”, following the outspoken couple’s 2023 appearance on The Block, when they were roasted by fans for their outbursts with other contestants and the show’s builders.

They suffered a brutal end to the TV season, as their Hampton East property was the only one not sold during the auction finale.

But they flipped the script with their luxury family home at 66 Wassell St, where a crowd of about 180 people turned out to watch as it went under the hammer.

McGrath marketing agent Alec McEwan said this was the suburb’s highest residential sale of 2025, despite the auction turning into a one-buyer’s race when the other two registered bidders pulled out at the last minute.

“The Block didn’t make them a profit when most of the other participants were making hundreds of thousands of dollars, but this was the auction that did,” Mr McEwan said.

“Ash and Leah were understandably a little hesitant when they started the campaign, but thankfully everything went to plan and they were delighted with the outcome.”

Mr McEwan said the day took an expected turn when another bidder pulled out because she had to step in to deliver a wedding speech.

The eventual buyers were somewhat skittish about bids, so the auction moved into closed negotiations early on until the bid on the table matched the interest received before the auction of $3 million.

An additional $1,000 was added to the sale price, which included a pair of designer swivel chairs in burgundy to match the color-drenched room of the house.

Mr McEwan said the buyers were a local couple who had attended every inspection and “fell in love” with the house, while the sellers celebrated with the buyers and supportive crowd when the hammer finally fell.

“It has been heart-warming to see how people have responded to the house and the wonderful feedback we have received,” Ms Milton said.

“We left The Block behind because it was a storyline we had no control over.

“This home is an example of our love and dedication, not only to the industry, but also to our family and to what really matters to us.

“Ash has worked really hard for five years to do this for us and it’s really nice to have this for our story and not for a company’s story,” she said.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home had multiple indoor and outdoor living areas spread over two levels, with two master bedrooms and a poolside entertaining pavilion on a 991m² north-facing corner plot.

Features include high ceilings with open beams, panelling, wooden floors and wraparound verandas, balancing the relaxed coastal character with modern design flair.

Data from PropTrack shows that home prices in Wynnum have increased by 7.9 percent over the past 12 months to an average of $1.29 million.
