Coventry City was targeted on Saturday afternoon after the thrashing of Queens Park Rangers with 7-1 in the championship.
The side of Frank Lampard underlined their promotion references with an emphatic victory in the CBS Arena. The Sky Blues were 5-0 up at the break and seven ahead just after the hour. A late Richard Kone response for QPR was little comfort for the visitors, who were well defeated on a moving afternoon in the East Midlands.
It was a perfect afternoon for Coventry, who celebrated their acquisition of the CBSarena.

Coventry maintains their unbeaten start, but miss a championship. The biggest winning margin ever in the division is 8-0, jointly shared by Wigan Athletic and Bournemouth. The Cherries were the first to achieve the achievement in 2014/15, with Marc Pugh scored a hat trick in front of Eddie Howe’s side.
Wigan hit Hull City through his same score in 2020, incredible during a season that relegated the Latics. Their beaten opponents, Hull, were the only side ending in the table among them.
Seven different teams have won a championship luminaire with 7-0, including Fulham who surprisingly recorded that score three times in one season, during their promotion campaign from 2021/22.
Fulham ended the goals campaign with 106 goals, with Aleksandar Mitrovic destroying the second target record with 43 goals in just 44 games.
