FC Kairat from the Kazakhstan Premier League Welcome Record winners Real Madrid to Far Oost -Europe on match day two, while colleague -debutants Pafo’s are taking on another giant in Bayern Munich. If one of the two upset can pull, this would immediately be entered in this list of unforgettable Champions League shocks.
Five of the biggest Champions League Disruptions of all time
Maccabi Haifa 3-0 Manchester United (2002/03)
Manchester United may have omitted some of their large batters for the trip to Maccabi Haifa, but this was still a considerable shock. The Red Devils had reached the semi-final last season and had beaten the Israeli outfit 5-2 in Old Trafford in the first meeting. Despite rotation, their side for the journey still included Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Diego Forlan and both Neville Brothers.
The return, however, saw Sir Alex Ferguson’s side stunned, while Maccabi Oproer against their Premier League opponents. Yaniv Katan set out Maccabi on its way to a famous victory just before the break, before Raimondas Zutautas doubled the benefit. Future Premier League favorite Yakubu Ayegbeni scored from the place to make it three on an unforgettable evening for the home team.
Barcelona 1-2 Rubin Kazan (2009/10)
Rubin Kazan achieved an achievement that few parties did during the reign of Pep Guardiola in Barcelona, with a stunning 2-1 in the Camp Nou. Barcelona was linked to the Treble success last season, but the European champions were undone the following year on home floor.
The Russian debutants conquered enormous opportunities to claim the victory in Spain. Aleksandr Ryazantsev’s Thunderbolt silent the home crowd of two minutes, although Zlatan Ibrahimovic Barcelona brought just a few minutes into the second half.

Kazan came again. Gökdeniz Karadeniz, whose shirt number later retired in Rubin, scored the famous winner.
Inter Milan 2-5 Schalke (2010/11)
Another upset of the holders and one that was reached in an emphatic way. Few expected Schalke to pose a problem for Inter Milan, after the defensive champions Bayern Munich had eliminated in the previous round to reach the quarterfinals. Schalke struggled in the Bundesliga but tore up the form book to Thrash in the San Siro.
Despite the wonder goal of Dejan Stankovic within 25 seconds for Inter, Schalke fought back to claim an impressive lead in the first leg. The side of Ralf Rangnick scored five times in a one -sided match, with Joel Matip, Edu (2), Raul and his own goal of Andrea Ranocchia who caused the damage. The German side won 2-1 in the return to the progress with 7-3 to total.

Celtic 2-1 Barcelona (2011/12)
Every side that beats Barcelona at the height of their powers under Pep Guardiola can be considered an upset, but the way Celtic achieved the performance was really amazing.
The Scottish side had only 16% of possession against the Tiki-Taka Masters, but somehow gave the victory. Victor Wanyama got up to go home from a corner for the opener, before replacement Tony Watt scored a second in the final phase to seal the victory. Lionel Messi set up a nerve finish in extra time, but Celtic held up to claim the points.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sheriff (2021/22)
Real Madrid ended the 2021/22 campaign as winners of the Champions League, but first conquered a blip in the group phase. The Spaniards were amazed by Debutanten Sheriff Tiraspol, while the Moldavian Minnows won in the Bernabeu.
The competition took place on September 28, 2001 and would cause Sheriff an unreal upset by taking the draw 2-1. The * Moldovans * would shock loose blancos when Sebastien Thill scored a late winner in the 90th minute in the Bernabeu.
Sheriff, who plays in the Moldavan League, even though he is located in Tiraspol, in Transnistria, an unofficial region of Moldova with its own currency, has an extraordinary financial benefit compared to their domestic opponents, but few had a result of this magnitude.
