More houses are being tipped to sell under the hammer, because fierce competition to intensify real estate with the arrival of spring – the auction of one house has even been brought forward to meet the demand.

The Largs Bay Bungalow of the 1930s on 103 Wills ST, who comes on the market a little more than a week ago, will be auctioned this weekend.

Sales agent Liz Miles, from Pilgrim Re, brought the auction forward after she was bombed with offers after the first open inspection.

Eight potential buyers made an offer for the house.

“I had the first open last Saturday and I had 32 groups through, which is great, but since then I have had about eight offers, all very similar,” she said.

Mrs. Miles brought the auction to “to make him transparent for all involved”.

“The buyers are here and they are enthusiastic for this home, so why not,” she said.

The house with four bedrooms on a block of 697 m² was especially attractive for buyers because it was renovated and a good size with a lot of space, Miles said.

“There is also a pretty good studio from the back, so it is really attractive for families with teenagers and older parents,” she said.

Although the property itself was that so many potential buyers attracted, Mrs. Miles said that more house hunters would appear now that spring was.

The boost in the already high demand is expected to also lead to more auctions.

Ray White Sa Chief Auctioneerer John Morris said there were fewer auctions in the three winter months compared to the same time last year, but lists had also fallen.

“But that’s such a high vantage point,” he said.

On the way to spring, he said that auctions about Ray White still fell somewhat – about 3.5 percent compared to the same time last year – but that was exactly what had been booked so far.

He was convinced that this would change quickly in the coming weeks.

With an average of seven registered bidders per auction, Mr. Morris said that selling under the hammer had become a much more common way to sell real estate, because Covid was declared a pandemic.

“Pre-known auctions were lucky to get one bidder and we sold around 40 percent of the property under auction conditions,” he said.
