I often agree with Mitchell’s Takes, but I see no situation about this in which Edmonton would like to do something except for a podkolzin to an early extension.
Podkolzin deserves to be better than commercials for the oils
Podkozlin earned his place next to Draisaitl last season, exceeds expectations and bumped a veteran like Jeff Skinner from the Line -up. Its five-on-five production 2.17 points per 60 with a target share of 59 percent was one of the best in the team. Giving up that kind of chemistry and potential now, especially for a short return, would reflect the errors that Edmonton has worked to correct.

General Manager Stan Bowman has spent his first year of his run at the top to supplement an exhausted prospect pole that is left behind due to a decade of the youth trade for rental. Trading one of his own acquisitions would be contrary to that effort, especially with promising but unproven players such as Ike Howard and Savoie who are still fighting for full-time NHL rolls. It seems more likely that the two would struggle before Podkolzin would do that. Especially considering that, even if Podkolzin does not score, he brings a different element with his physicality and competes.
Unless this winger remains drastically lagging behind, there is no wise reason to cut bait. Edmonton simply cannot afford to offer another young one actively for profit in the short term if he is already shown that he can deliver.
