The 76ers’ silence could cost them a proven weapon that every contender wants

The Philadelphia 76ers are in dire need of three-point shooting this season. That was definitely something that derailed their cause last campaign, and if we want to gauge how they’ve looked so far this preseason, it’s probably safe to think of them as a ball club seriously lacking in perimeter ability.

Simply put, the 76ers are not a good shooting team, which is absolutely counterproductive given their amalgam of talent when it comes to on-ball creation. Philly has a slew of players who can create their own shot, but they are short on three-point shooters who can further help them create even more space and play.

That is precisely why the front office must continue to explore the market to see who is still available. The front office recently signed Marjon Beauchamp to an Exhibit 10 deal, but he will clearly log more time in the G-League and someone who is just a hair above league average as a three-point shooter probably won’t cut it.

And what better name to chase for the 76ers than someone who drained the second-most three-pointers in the league last season?

The 76ers should seriously consider targeting Malik Beasley before another competitor snaps him up

Perhaps the most notable free agent remaining, Malik Beasley is still without a home for the season. Thanks to some serious accusations off the court, teams have become wary of his precarious situation and have preferred to stay out of discussions about his services.

But if one thing is clear, it’s that Beasley is one of the best snipers in the game. He’s coming off his best season as a pro and was a key force behind Detroit exceeding expectations.

Philly, with its troubling lack of reliable three-point shooters, should do whatever it takes to get them to stick their fingers on the Malik Beasley train, which is still moving slowly. Still some contenders already trying to get their hands on them on the veteran, especially since his market has gone dry and he’s unlikely to get any great offers at this point.

The 76ers still have a roster spot, and with some financial gymnastics, they might be able to free up some more money to offer to Beasley. He would be a perfect addition to this team because of his immense ability as a three-point shooter.
