The PFL World Tournament Welterweight final had the potential to be a star turn for Thad Jean, an unbeaten but little known talent combined with former Bellator-Interim champion Logan Storley.

Immediately after a thriller between MoVlid Khaybulaev and Jesus Pinedo, the UFC Atlantic City Main Event, with $ 500,000 in prize money pending the winner, did not disappoint.

It was not long before Logan Storley shot his first Takedown of the PFL World Tournament Welterweight Final. And it wasn’t long before Thad Jean was immediately up again.

When a second Takedown attempt came, quite shocking, it was Jean who turned the tables on “Storm” Storley, stood at the top and immediately went to the mountain. Moments later, Storley belly was down, although he just looked gloomy when he seemed to wake up, scramble and clamber back.

Shocking perhaps Jean was more than the task of filling Storley’s Takedowns for the most of the round. And in the second heat the storage at the start of Storley and went to the body. Storley supported a backup, covered himself and Jean lay down in him. Storley was able to resist that barrage, but it made Thad Jean feel good enough to show a little.

Maybe prematurely. Moments later, with half the round still on the clock, Storley landed an important Takedown. Jean remained active and wanted to scramble and then tried to lock up a triangle. No dice, and Storley spent some time at the top. But not enough time: Jean would free himself. And back on the feet, Jean shot a front kick on the face and then really let go. A main kick, blocked. Left, rights, a jump knee that connected clean, a knee on the face. Logan Storley soon sat on his knees, Thad Jean Landing Punch after punch. Storley was bloody, but somehow survived (Jean, that should be noted, was warned about successes to the back of the head, although no one seemed intentional to be).

Thad Jean found round three again Grooving. Light on his feet, shucking and jiving (or maybe just float and weave, but that is less poetic). Great movement. Great footwork. An impressive wild growth filled a Takedown attempt at just under two minutes. Storley, denied, put his weight on Jean against the fence. However, he couldn’t keep Jean there.

In the middle, Storley would land a Takedown and gave him 90 seconds to try to win a fairly narrow round. Jean clambered, just to see that counterproductive, with Storley able to move to Mount. But a little later Jean used the fence to push away, creating just enough space to escape the back door from Onder Storley.

Jean’s Jab was still spicy in the fourth round, but Storley started to be successful to walk down and cut the cage. A right hand landed for Storley, whose Gastank had never really been a question. However, Jean showed signs of fatigue and no longer seemed to have the energy to spread and fight against Takedown attempts as he had early. Instead, Storley was able to shoot, get Jean to his knees and to drap himself over the back.

Yet Jean escaped and landed more than once on Storley when they came to the last minute of round four. Another Takedown landed for Storley, although Jean was back soon.

Logan Storley went back to his bread and butter, wrestling, in round five. When he couldn’t land it, the couple moved back to the middle, where Storley successfully blocked a high staircase. Another shot came a little later, with Storley Landing It. He looked to take his back, with half the remaining round. Two and a half minutes until someone claimed world tournament -gold. Jean was again able to get up again, despite the tiredness he had shown so clearly. There was also the question of whether Storley could win a decision; Jean had almost certainly two, if not three rounds.

In the last minute a sloppy attempt by Storley Takedown was answered with Jean’s active hands. He connected more than once. Moments later he did that with a knee and right hand. Storley leaked blood again. They ended the round trade, Jean got better from the stock markets, because he had all fought for a long time.

The jury members saw it for Thad Jean. Easy the right call.

In conversation with Dan Hardy after the fight, Jean thanked his supporters for the release. “This is my job, and I am ready to fight who is next!” he exclaimed. The “Silverback” improved to 11-0 with the victory, after one of the most memorable runs in PFL history.

Official result: Thad Jean Def. Logan Storley by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47)
