Staats – representative of Texas, Brian Harrison (R – Waxahachie), unleashed the leadership of his own party because he could let Democrats run after dismantling the Republican agenda in the first special session of the state without getting a single follow -up.
On Friday, the Texas House did not succeed in reaching Quorum for the sixth time since the beginning of August, so that the GOP redistrict plan was retained. Only 95 legislators showed up for the 10.00 hour session, again shortage of the 100 needed to reach a quorum.
Harrison, visibly frustrated when he finished the Austin Capitol, confirmed some conservatives of the base: the Democrats won and Gop leaders rolled around.
The session, which was supposed to tackle urgent Republican priorities, such as redistribution and exemption from real estate tax, ended in total failure.
According to Harrison, the debt lies not only with the Democrats who have hindered the session, but also with “Weak, Feckless” Republican leadership that refused to hold them responsible.
Texas Gop -Leadership had previously indicated that Rogue Democrats would be subject to arrest or removal of committees if they hinder legislative priorities. But because the dust from the first special session covers, it is clear: those threats were empty.
Brian Harrison:
I just got off the floor and boys, it’s official – the first special session is over. The Democrats have won. They were able to thwart the Republican priorities – each of them. This includes redistribution, and that includes exemption from real estate tax.And because of the weak-effective non-response, I would argue with the so-called Republican leadership, in particular in the Texas house, the Democrats have won slightly more than just the items on the agenda for the special session. They have been able to relocate freely, without arrests, to galvanize national public support against our very urgent required redistribution efforts.
And so the bottom line is this: the Democrats have won. In fact, they have swept the floor with the Republican chosen leadership in the state of Texas, who have demanded exactly zero punishments of even one of these rogue democrats, despite all the promises to leave their seats and to arrest them. There have been zero -democrats with their seats left. Zero -Democrats have been arrested. No democrat has been pulled out of a single committee.
No chairman of the Democrat Committee – yes, Democrats Chairman Committees in Texas – has lost their chairman. No Democrat has removed his seniority. No Democrat has promised the Governor, Speaker or Lieutenant Gouverneur to kill their legislation.
Guys, I’m sorry. You earn and you demand results and actions. You chose President Trump in a 14-point landslide. You want daring republican leadership. You earn daring Republican leadership – but you don’t understand that. You get a weak Fecklessness, and I am fed up with the Texas Democrats fight harder for the future of our state and our nation than the Republicans in Texas.

In response, Governor Greg Abbott announced that special session #2 will start immediately.
“Special session #2 starts immediately. There is critical work that is being undone. Texas will not go back from this fight. That’s why I call them back today to finish the job,” Abbott announced to X.
It is reported that the house will restore the quorum on Monday.
