The Stars opened the scoring just eight minutes into the first frame Matthew Seminoff intercepted a Chicago clearance attempt along the right wall. Seminoff fired it towards the net Cameron Hughes sent it in to give Texas an early lead.
Texas extended the lead just four minutes later on a tic-tac-toe passing play. Sean Chisholm won a puck battle behind the Chicago net and found Justin Ertel in the left circle. Ertel brought him to a clearing Jac Becker in the crease and Becker tapped the ball in for his tenth goal of the season.
As the first period came to a close, Texas was called for consecutive penalties. Justin Robidas hit a wrist shot home from the slot on the second of Chicago’s two power plays, cutting the Stars’ lead to 2-1. Noel Gunler found the back of the net after a strange rush with less than a second remaining in the frame to level the match before the break.
With 5:55 left in the second period, Harrison Scott forced a turnover in the right circle of the offensive zone, played give-and-go Ayrton Martinoand shot past Cayden Primeau to give the Stars a 3-2 lead. Bradly Nadeau banked in the tying marker with 51 seconds left in the middle frame after a failed clearing attempt by the Stars.

Ronan Seeley hit a wrist shot from the top of the left circle over the shoulder of Remi Poirier to give the Wolves a 4-3 lead seven minutes into the third. Texas responded four minutes later when Hughes knelt to keep the puck in the offensive zone and then made a pass to Arttu Hyry in the slot, which went to his backhand to tie the match 4-4.
Chicago took the lead with four minutes left when Felix Unger Sörum fed Noah Philp in the crease for the go-ahead marker. The Stars were unable to straighten things out for a second time as the Wolves tied the season series at one win apiece.
Poirier had 25 saves in the loss, while Primeau stopped 20 shots in the win.
