A game to forget and a version that smelled of a side that missed a very quality stitcher, while Newcastle United Leeds left with a 0-0 draw.
Here are our reviews of the 10 and comments about each may of each may be involved in Elland Road tonight:
Pope (6.5) us his area good and saved well from Calvert-Lewin Laat. Still owns his shaky moments. Booked for cutting the chance of Leeds to catch him from his line after he was swept.
Trippier (5.5) – The energetic Gnonto found a handful in the first half. Does not have the legs to go up and down more and struggled to dictate the piece as it can sometimes.
Schar (7) – Almost scored with a daring chip before he flares a left key in the stands. Did what he usually does for defense, which is neat and tidy.
Botman (8) – One of the head tour in the first half and it was an insured performance of our Rolls Royce. Would start in most Premier League teams.
Burn (7) – Some typically robust challenges and always available to receive the ball. Fewer set pieces and throwing ins meant that he could not be a threat.
Livramento (7.5) – Bright Spark in a different boring game. Played much higher on the left and looked at Bogle on every occasion. Top talent and great athlete that is also defensive solid.
Tonali (6) – Far from his best today. I am not sure if he was still hindered by the shoulder complaint, but it was one of his quieter competitions. Did not do much wrong, but under what we expect.
Guimaraes (4.5) -A large drop of the Liverpool game. Was rattled by Longstaff All Game and lost the battle between them. Caught in possession of more than one occasion that led to dangerous counterattacks.
Murphy (5) – At least he tested a platform in the Leeds goals with a few shots, but he was unable to make a chance with a lethargic display. Did not do enough to stay in the team and looked lost in the 3-5-2 system.
Ramsey (7) – Encouraging. Played a nice square ball for Osula in the first half that should have led to an opening goal. Cares the ball well and added pace to our midfield, but left the field during the break due to a light ankle knock.
Osula (4) – had a few chances in the first half, but was otherwise anonymous. Too much bounced him and he didn’t respond quickly enough to balls in the box. Now that Woltemade looked up, Osula did nothing to show that he is unfortunately a little more than an impact subs.
Miley (5) – Cheap give away led to a Leeds attack. He is neatly on the ball, but there is an extra equipment that must come out for a player of his size and potential.
Elanga (4) – terrible. He was wasting at the few times that he had the ball in threatening areas, with a few loose accents and bad crosses. Showed an eruption of speed and strength against Struijk, but in possession he left a lot to be desired.
Hall (6) – gives us a much better balance on the left when it is on the field and fired one shot. Must insist on a start against wolves.
Barnes (4) – Anonymous. Never came into the game and the season started very slowly.
