“I love to compete. I love to play and tennis has always been part of that. And I want to compete and I want to do the best even as I get older,” he said. The Hinduwhich underlines his desire to continue playing at the highest level.
While Myneni isn’t looking too far ahead, the 38-year-old said he wants to make sure he’s physically good to go.
“I mean, I want to compete, but I have to see how my body and mind go. And I want to do my best,” said Myneni, who is in the city to participate in the Chennai Open ATP Challenger.
Myneni, currently ranked 344th in doubles and paired here with compatriot Siddhant Banthia, said he had no plans in terms of a partner for the rest of the year.
He had collaborated with Ramkumar Ramanathan in the recent past and had quite a bit of success. However, he found that playing with different partners was not easy.
When asked what keeps him going despite the injury-related problems and being away from the Tour for a while, Myneni said: “It’s the passion for the sport.”
“I haven’t played more than four or five tournaments all year (2025). So I want to make sure I get better now. Hopefully there are no injuries and I stay healthy.”
Although he is done with singles, he can still try his hand at doubles.
