The most valuable players’ debates in the National Women’s Soccer League can often be controversial, with much discussion about what a most valuable player should quantify. Could continue to perform without that player? If they do that, does that hurt the chances of that player? For lesser teams, should an MVP go up and out to bring itself into the conversation?
The fact that a team could perform well without a certain player does not mean that the player is of course not valuable. Maybe that team has a great coach, or he had a GM that built a great selection. Anyway, whether a team is good – and can do it well without them – the chances of a player at MVP should not be replaced. Often a player is great because of the teammates they have in the area
