Agricultural experts have called on to organize an annual seed festival to restore the lost glory of the sperm freedom of farmers and control over their seeds.

On Tuesday, the invitation poster for the first seed festival of Telangana was officially launched in Hyderabad by the Council for Green Revolution and Bharat Beej Swaraj Manch. President of Sahaja Samrudha, G. Krishna Prasad, said on the occasion that the responsibility to maintain the indigenous seed heritage by ancestors to one generation after the other was passed on.

He emphasized that Telangana had a diverse sperm heritage such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and it had to be promoted to the agricultural community with the support of the media.

The first Telangana Seed Festival would be held from 4 to 6 April in the Earth Center in AnmaSpally Village or Kadthal Mandal in the Rangareddy district. The festival is aimed at presenting the wealth of traditional seeds and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. It would serve as a common platform for farmers, researchers and policy makers, he noticed.

Fifty stalls would be set up to show seeds, seed knowledge and experiences. The festival would witness the participation of agricultural seed experts from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha and other states.
