Spendthrift Farm’s undefeated Ted Noffey, trained by Todd Pletcher, leads the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s Top 3-Year-Old Poll, while Godolphin’s Sovereignty, trained by Bill Mott, is ranked first in the Top Thoroughbred Poll, which counts horses of all ages. Both polls started this week, with the 3-year poll featuring horses racing through the Triple Crown and the Top Thoroughbred poll representing horses competing for Horse of the Year. The Top Thoroughbred Poll ends on November 3, a few days after the World Breeders’ Cup Championships, which take place over two days this fall on Keeneland.
Winner of the rated stake Paladin , Brant , Golden Age And Further Ad round out the leading five in the Top 3-Year-Old Poll. Ted Noffey received 21 first-place votes, and 2025 Remsen Stakes (G2) winner Paladin received the other two. No other 3-year-old received first-place votes.
Skippy longstocking recent winner of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1) on January 24 at Gulfstream Parkreceived five first-place votes, compared to Sovereignty’s 14 first-place votes in the Top Thoroughbred Poll and is ranked second.
Journalism , Nysos (1 first place vote), and Forever young (three first-place votes) are third through fifth, respectively. The standings are not determined by first-place votes, but by total point totals on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-1 basis for each voter’s top 10.
